Yeah I try to buy everything of theirs I can if I see it used. Of course the main albums I'd buy new, used, twice over, in compilation form, it doesn't matter. Most people seem to think their prime was during the early 90's but I feel that, just like the Architect, they have gotten increasingly efficient at destroying Zion err...making the music they intended to make. But they took a real hit when Mary Hansen died, now it's just Sadier backing herself up, so my favorite album is Sound-Dust and it just goes in reverse chronological order from there (Cobra and Phases, Emperor Tomato Ketchup, Dots and Loops, etc).
Nice choice. Did you know that What You Wish For and Rainy Day were on the Life As A House soundtrack? The family dog in the movie is named Guster too

I must say that I am partial to the drone-y stuff from the Switched On compilations, but I have enjoyed them consistently over the years. Nice to have another fan around here. They have a new one, Chemical Sound, coming out in August, I think.
Rolling Stones Love & rockets/Tones on Tail/ Bauhaus Bob Wills Jimmy Reed Townes Van Zandt Guy Clark Jesus and Mary Chain Joy Division Jim Croce (HIGHLY underrated) Belle & Sebastian
I thought about this and it is proving more difficult than I had imagined, here goes. In no particular order Tool The Mars Volta/At the Drive In Radiohead NIN This is where it gets tougher Sublime Weezer Nirvana My Morning Jacket A Perfect Circle Social Distortion

I saw an old Saturn this morning that had all of those bands' stickers on it (sans My Morning Jacket). The NIN - perfectly centered - anchored the collage.
Beatles Bob Marley and the Wailers Traffic Steely Dan Yes Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble Joe Walsh Genesis Stevie Wonder Rush Honorable mention: The Police, Queen, Earth Wind & Fire, Spinners
Not a huge fan. Their CDs are never really all that great all the way through, IMO, but each one has two or three songs that I love so much that it makes me forget about the valleys. On the new one, there's really only one song that I look forward to hearing. In no particular order except the first. Dave Matthews Band The Rolling Stones O.A.R. The Black Crowes The Roots The Raconteurs Counting Crows Wilco Bright Eyes U2
Not sure what this means, but these are the ten bands I listen to the most: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Iron Maiden, Los Bukis, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Café Tacuba, Radiohead, Opeth, System of a Down, and probably Grateful Dead.
I really like that band. Before actually listening to their music, I assumed they were one of the Yes clones of the early 70's. However, after listening to the "Three Friends" album for the first time, I realized I was way off. Their sound is a blend of 20th century classical, fusion, blues rock and medieval chamber music. Very unique and influential band.
Interesting....I disagree, but I do appreciate you answering my question. What song do you really like on the new album? I do think that my two favorite albums are August and Everything AFter and Recovering the Satellites, but the recent albums have only had a few songs I didn't like, versus only a few that I really loved. However, their concert performances are phenomenal, imo.... I like a lot of the stuff on your list, though. I really dig DMB, although I haven't been as into them in recent years.
Insignificant is the one song on the new album. Honestly, I haven't listened to it as much as I wish since I've really been bombarding myself with new music, so I reserve my right to change my mind. Yeah, DMB hasn't really done anything lately to inspire any people who have just a passing interest. I have high hopes for their next CD since it's been six years since they put out anything really good.
