PG: Maurice Williams (It's possible; full MLE)/ Alston/ V-Span (He needs more minutes. His play reminds me of Cassell's 1st season. Not great shooter, a bit erratic passing-wise, but give him some leash & he could produce) SG: T-Mac/ V-span/ Morris Almond/(use Lucas & Head to move up in draft to get Rush, Law, Splitter etc. or get another pick in early 2nd round for Gray/Stuckey/Pruitt/Byars/etc.) SF: Battier/ Synder/ Novak PF: Howard/ Hayes (depends how much. 1.5 mill is too much for a PF without size and no offense) L. Roberts (sign for min.; young player, played well for Memphis, bigger version of Hayes; project) or 2nd pick C: Yao (needs to be able to hit jumpers from 15-18 feet out) / Mikki Moore (sign him, He didn't perform that well against Cleveland's front court, so should be cheaper than earlier in the postseason. Not great player, but a decent, somewhat athletic backup PF/C) --Jake is not mobile enough, and Deke will probably retire without Gundy.
bibby/rafer stevie/snyder/ tmac/battier battier/hayes yao/mutombo our starting lineup has 4 players that can corrupt for 25+, and battier can also be on fire, for example that denver game. rafer is a great bench player, nothing else. snyder, i think, will flourish under rick aldement. also, hayes was a great passer in college, i think under a good offense coach, hayes can have that passing skillz in the nba. you guys might say battier is a terrible rebounder, but stevie was a great guard rebounder, like bob sura. true, our bench is pretty weak, but tmac, bibby, stevie, yao can stay at least 30 minutes. if we can use our rotation right, that would help. this lineup, only bibby hasn't played under jvg, hopefully our team becomes like detroit. not losing their defensive mind set after getting flip saunders. jvg is a great coach, but couldn't get his rotations right. for example, in game 7, when mutombo in, we went on a run, you don't destroy that run, you keep the players in. plus yao seriously needed more rests than he thinks. hopefully rick can solve that problem, and know how to use the best out of yao. plus if vspan can flourish under aldement, we can trade rafer for a decent bench player. this is also not adding the draft picks.
ok... here it goes. starting five pg - chucky atkins or mike james (either) sg - tracy mcgrady sf - shane battier pf - darko milicic c - yao sixth man mike miller bench magloire vspan juwon luther novak
Darko and Mike Miller would be great fits, but i don't think we can get them without giving up a whole lot in return.
the thing is that people who like Spanoulis are not going to wine and creep this whole message board with stupid comments like JVG lovers they are all over the place right now and can't stop complaining... whatever happens with Span will be in his best interest, I would wish him luck and move on, its not like the world is coming to an end
My perfect starting 5 for the rockets 07-08 roster Jason Kidd-PG Bonzi Wells(in shape bonzi wells, not what we got this season)-SG Tracy Mcgrady-SF Chuck Hayes-PF Yao Ming-C
What I would like to see: PG - Alston SG - McGrady SF - Battier PF - Sean Williams C - Yao What I think is gonna happen: PG - Alston SG - McGrady SF - Battier PF - McRoberts C - Yao I'm all about shaping up the bench and getting a good backup to Rafer who could cut his minutes to around 25-27 per game
Maurice Williams T-Mac Gerald Wallace Chuck Hayes Yao MWill and GWall might break the bank, but they are both available.
As much as I have high hopes that V-SPAN can work on his game over the summer and be a contributor next season; if your statement is true I really hope we get rid of him, because right now the Spanamours are very annoying, and it would be worth losing that potential to be rid of them.
I miss sura and barry, and nachbar. Or Mikey james. I miss the tremendous energy and excitement we had. I miss...... can we get a new owner?
Artest + K9 for Battier + Howard Mike James for Rafer Alston + Sura SF3 free agent keep Bonzi Wells draft big baby Yao/Jake K9/Hayes/Davis Tmac/Artest/Novak Artest/Wells/Head SF3/James/Vspan Novak would have to really improve this summer. We might need him as a jump shooter.
Now that Bonzi seems to want to come back, what about possibly picking up Artest for a portion of the MLE? If the Rockets had the Artest + Wells combo to give T-Mac and Battier some rest, good NIGHT Western Conference. And if we could POSSIBLY pick up Franchise off of a buyout? This team would be STACKED. We'd have to drop some of our younger talent though. And some of our expiring contracts. And Luther Head. But, damn, would it be worth it. Realistic? Probably not. But neither was my previous one.
