The press would dub this the "Chinese wall". This would be a lot of fun - the media following would be like Yao's first season.

The Spurs are not as offensively challenged as the Rockets. The Rockets desperately need consistent offense. They have three starters who are not offense threats, and TMac can go 0 for 20 at any time. When you are that desperate for offense you can't afford a defensive specialist to start and play major minutes.

    PM/PG Ridnour
    SG J.Johnston
    SM F Yi
    PF J.Smith
    C Yao Ming
Trade Mc Grady, Battier, Alston,Mutombo and draft picks, for younger faster and more consistant players who can put the ball in the basket.[& play defence] .

that team would not make the playoffs and would have the defensive force of a paper plate in a tornado.

'93 Barkley? Pfft. This would be WAY better. And WAY more of a fantasy team.

    Center - 1995 Playoffs Dream
Power Forward - 1991 Len Bias
Small Forward - 1981 Julius Erving
    Shooting Guard - 1996 Jordan
Point Guard - 1962 Oscar Robertson

    BENCH

    Center - 1965 Bill Russell
Power Forward - (Pick a Year) Magic Johnson
Power Forward - 2002 Tim Duncan
Small Forward - 1986 Larry Bird
Shooting Guard - 2007 Kobe Bryant
Point Guard - 2006 Steve Nash

    MY TEAM WINS.

Geez, your KG dream should stop right now. Les will not let this happen. So please replace Les first. Period.

P.S. I am talking about trade Yao for KG. Trade Les first before any Yao trade can occur.

Not that I'm championing a Yao/KG trade, but replacing Les sounds good to me.

    C: Yao
    PF: Tmac
    SF: Battier
    SG: Bonzi
    PG: Bibby/Francis

I cannot put Howard into the lineup next year, he would hurt the team too much. Tmac is tall enough and can defend the 4 well enough to play there. Tmac, Battier, and Bonzi can all be interchangeable 2-4. That's how I'd do it.

Since we are looking at a team outside of the realm of possibility:
    1987 Magic Johnson
    1990 Michael Jordan
    1987 Larry Bird
    1993 Charles Barkley
    1962 Wilt Chamberlain

Any lineup with Alston, Howard, or Hayes as starters can not be taken seriously. Actually, I would prefer Battier as the sixth man. How this is going to be achieved is beyond me and probably the Rocket's organization.

Battier is not a microwave type player. You waste his defensive skills if he only plays 20 minutes from bench. Spurs don't put Bowen on bench though he's not good at offence.

Chamberlain is dead, this is not humanly possible.

    Bibby
    McGrady
    Battier
-insert strong inside presence here- (Chuck Hayes, Kurt Thomas)
    Yao

Bibby is a free agent, I think. He loves Adelman. It's late enough in his career that he favors winning over money. We need a better point guard. He wouldn't mind taking a paycut to sign with us. We have midrange money to offer him. As for the strong inside presence, we need someone ferocious, who can score inside by pushing people around. Perhaps Chuck Hayes could develop his game, but as much as I love him, he's better off as the primary sixth man rather than as the starter.
