Rubber chickens, seltzer water, lots of pies, nose-and-mustache-glasses...you know sophisticated humor.
Something funny has to play with my expectations. Situational humor falls flat when I know what will happen. Same with physical comedy. The absurd probably has the easiest path to my funny bone. Monty Python !
Having a sense of humor would include not taking offense when someone makes obvious satirical attempts to mock a rival sports team.
Voted for observational, but I can enjoy most of them. The exception is pointed humor. For some reason, I never could understand making fun of other people. I think it's usually just really mean.
Yes, it was. I never get tired of the show. I will watch an episode even if I've already seen it 20 times.
My sense of humor has become pretty versatile. I would call it a mix of dry deadpan, quick wit, wacky similes, observational, absurdist, sardonic, pointed, self-deprecating, satire/parody. I also really enjoy practical jokes like Saturday Morning when finalsbound woke up hungover and started ranting about how Tony Kornheiser was just speaking the truth and Hannah Storm is a weird-looking chick with broad shoulders. Without missing a beat I tell her that her broad shoulders are part of the reason she started at linebacker for her high school football team. She doesn't believe me (by now she knows I'm full of ****), so I tell her to check wikipedia. She doesn't do it immediately, so that gives me just enough time to edit Hannah Storm's wiki page.
I'm pretty much all of those at one point or another. I mean, I think an old guy getting hit in the balls speaks across generations.
I'm a huge fan of Lenny Bruce, which is very observational and very cynical. Sometimes he comes off as more college circuit lecturer than comedian, but there's nothing more hilarious than the bitter truth. Then again, I'm also a fan of Ambrose Bierce and Anton Checkov, so...
