If you still can't understand the elementary concept I'm addressing here after reading post #17 then there's no hope for either of you.

P.S. Please keep telling me how illogical I am as you compare NBA stats as a means to gauge players before the draft. Unbelievable.

baller4life315, I think we can agree this discussion probably needs to stop. And everyone moves on. Cool?

Anyway, with the Utah win, the Rockets pretty much have the 14th pick in their pockets.

So let me revisit the depth chart.

    Almost no way in hell

    1. John Wall
    2. DeMarcus Cousins
    3. Evan Turner
    4. Derrick Favors

Likely picked before 14 but we don't care about

    5. Wesley Johnson
    6. AlFarouq Aminu
    7. Ed Davis

Even though Davis is a big, unless he grows a few inches he can't play center.

Big men slotted in the lottery that we DO care about

    8. Donatas Motiejunas
    9. Greg Monroe
    10. Hassan Whiteside
    11. Cole Aldrich
    12. Patrick Patterson
    13. Jan Veasly
    14. Ekpe Udoh

They're ordered in my personal preference. I think that unless teams before us decide they want to go small instead, we don't really have much of a chance to actually "pick" a player. But rather take the leftovers.

I really hope someone like Xavier Henry or Damian James skyrocket up the board. And give Morey more options. Because at 14, we're kind of on the tail end of the run on big men. That said, the draft is always unpredictable, and some teams will always reach for that WTF pick. Hopefully it allows for some good PF/C to drop to us.

Clyde Drexler was picked at what position? #14? There's always hope.

    Works for me.

You seem very sold on Motiejunas. He's the real deal? Sounds like a very intriguing prospect. I just wish I had more exposure to him. You think he's NBA ready or more of a project?

I like Motiejunas because I really want Morey to swing for the fences with this pick. I do not believe like many that NY's next year pick will be a high one. And even if that pick is a top 10 pick. It's possible the big men depth won't be nearly as good as this one. Plus, with Adelman, the risk of taking a Euro is less so than most teams.

Basically, my priority in this draft is UPSIDE UPSIDE UPSIDE. And this kid has the most of that among players we have a chance for.

If only Morey has the benefit of 10-years-into-the-future 20/20 hindsight. That would be cool. :)

Can somebody point out the differences between this Motiejunas kid and Toronto's Bargnani? Is that a fair comparison?

I see Johnson and Udoh as guys that the Rockets will try to trade up to get if they don't get lucky. I think one of them will be available at pick 9. Turner, Cousins, or Favors would also fit very well if the Rockets won the second or third picks.

Has Epke Udoh's stock risen up this much lately? He's pretty much under the radar earlier this season. He would be a nice pickup for us. I thought he was merely a shot-blocking machine until I finally got to see some Baylor games. Dude can play both ends. He can shoot from midrange, dish out some assists and even score in the post with a jump hook. He's 23 years old but who says older players can't develop their game at the pro level? Jason Thompson joined the league as a senior and I recalled a tweet this season in which Morey was raving about Thompson's dominance on boards. (against our undersized frontline, but still  )

Willie Warren is another player worth mentioning. If Les is generously enough to let Morey purchase another 2nd round pick, this guy could be another steal. He's gotta be better than Jermaine Taylor.

THe rockets should instead try to buy a late 1st rd pick and get Avery Bradley, the dude has some crazy athleticism...

He could help us at the pg position given that we might lose one of our pg this off-season... in a trade or free agency

I like Warren's ability to create off the dribble. Bradley has average handles at best.

Call me a homer but I want Udoh. Of course, Monroe would be an ideal option as well.

UT fan. Avery Bradley is a very risky pick if taken early as he will most likely need a lot of D league time.

He doesn't finish well enough around rim.
He doesn't get to FT line well enough.
When he gets to FT line, he misses way too much.
He is a great defender, but his size will make it difficult to guard shooting guards.
He has shown no point guard skills outside of being able to defend one.
Not a good rebounder for his position.

Think Luther Head except with defense and a worse shot. He is strictly a project at this time.

    This man speaks the truth.

He's athletic and explosive, but he rarely gets to the rim and finishes with authority. He can shoot the mid-range, and he'll occasionally go on a 3-point tear, but he's a poor man's Russ Westbrook, at best. Bradley's an elite perimeter defender, and that's about it.

if it was up to me we would go after Donatas Motiejunas. He is a left finese PF who plays just like a German in the Dallas area. He and Scola would shore up the pf so we dont have to trade our bench and picks to get Bosh. We can get a 5 from overseas or via a trade.

Agree with you big time on Udoh, he can slot out on this team as a true 4/5 guy who can defend the rim with extreme prejudice. Udoh really impressed me this year. I see the rockets having to trade up from #14 to get him.
