This is in relation to the "being rich" thread...

What is the minimum combined household income per year before taxes you think you need to be happy? What do you need to maintain a day to day lifestyle to keep yourself satisfied as well as saving for retirement and kids, etc. Lets assume your age is around 40 - mid life.

My salary right out of school wasn't much and it's been tough. I think 50 is a good amount when you're single with no kids.

I make just under six figs as a single 24 year old in Houston and am very comfortable and saving some money. I wonder how much more I need to make if I want to get married and maintain the same lifestyle.

 I don't have a requirement. I think that with the budget, the way of life, the cost of living, etc., to live a debt-free life, it varies.

Also, I don't think I should tell you what I think it should be.
    That's what SHE said.

My household income falls in between the 75-100 mark. I'm happy with that at 25. Wouldn't mind making more though, and I plan to.

Married, with 2 kids, saving for kids school and our retirement, etc...family income should be around 200k/year by age 40 imho.

Honestly, if I have a kid or two, my current desired range skyrockets at least 125%, I mean, that's another freaking person man, a more expensive person too. Nuts. Scares me.

My parents do fine with less than $40k a year. We make it by. And that's with them having 5 kids. You just have to save and budget.

Did you mean you want Morey?

If you have a family of four the minimum would probably be
125k as long as you keep a good budget.

Yeah, it's possible, I sure as hell wouldn't want to make any changes to my current spending habits though.

My income will ideally be enough to support myself, a wife and kids without my wife working. Of course if she wants to work, More $$$ for Rockets tix :p

Oh yeah, I voted between $75-$100k. But of course more costs = More $$$ so it has to be relevent

That's just a flat out lie.

Wives from Russia cost only a few grand. You could probably throw some kids in for $500 a pop.
