Discussion in 'Houston Texans' started by justtxyank, May 9, 2014.

What would your QB solution be?

  1. Take a QB at 33

    18.7%
  2. Take a project QB later in this draft

    32.3%
  3. Trade for Ryan Mallett

    11.0%
  4. Hold the fort and wait for a better option next year

    38.1%

We didn't find a solution at QB long term and I'm 100% okay with that. Maximize the cards at hand... we'll have our guy at some point in the next two years.

None of the QB's in the draft were sure bets to me, or even close to it.

So I'm fine waiting until the late-4th for a project and reassessing the QB situation next offseason. Fitz or Keenum can hold down the fort next year, maybe more, who knows.

When are any of the quarterback in the draft a "sure bet." Elway, Manning, and Luck are the only three that held that title.

If you don't draft one because of that _ you will most likely always be looking for a quarterback.

I think it's possible Fitzpatrick can be good enough. If the O line provides decent protection and the run game is productive, Fitz is smart enough to learn and execute coach BOB's complex schemes. I'm pretty sure that's why they made the choice to sign him given the possibilities.

He may not be a sexy choice but with a run game and a top 5 defense he could do enough to win; maybe by just not making mistakes.

Yeah, the running game will have to be solid. If Fitz is asked to do too much, that's when he turns in Jeremy Lin and makes more mistakes than you would like. However, if we can run effectively, then he can do enough to move the chains and get some points on the board (averaging 24 TDs a year his last 3 years in Buffalo is actually pretty nice).

I think our defense will be pretty damn good, so give our relatively weak schedule, I dont think it's out of the realm of possibility to win 9 or 10 games if all the chips fall in the right places.
