Lowry is going to put up more than 10ppg.

    Sig bet anyone?

I can guarantee it. He will be playing more point than Brooks imo, with AB sliding over to the G spot...:)

I don't think Aaron Brooks is tall enough to play Shooting Guard, unless he wears platform shoes that add about 6" to his height.

Understood. I was really treating it as two separate things - I would lower individual scoring averages and separately, I would expect the team to have lower output over the year.

All I will predict individually with regards to scoring is the following:

Tier 1: Scola and Brooks (15 ppg potential)
Tier 2: Landry and Ariza (10-14 ppg potential)
Tier 3: Majority of team (5-10 ppg potential)
Tier 4: Hayes, Dorsey, Pops (sub 5 ppg)

Assuming no McGrady, here's my 10-man rotation and initial guesses:

    Brooks: 32 mpg, 16.5 ppg
    Ariza: 34 mpg, 12.5 ppg
    Battier: 34 mpg, 8.5 ppg
    Scola: 33 mpg, 14.5 ppg
    Andersen: 22 mpg, 9.5 ppg
    Landry: 24 mpg, 11 ppg
    Lowry: 23 mpg, 8.5 ppg
    Hayes: 22 mpg, 2 ppg
    Budinger: 10 mpg, 5.5 ppg
    Taylor: 6 mpg, 3 ppg

Those PPG estimates are conservative, and pretty much based on what they did last year with slight tweaks. It adds up to only 91.5, which would make us one of the worst scoring teams in the league. I actually expect us to score something similar, maybe a little more, than last year with the increased pace. Something like 99.5 makes sense. But that's with McGrady. Without McGrady, maybe 95 ppg for the team. Which means I need to adjust the scoring from above according (get 4 or 5 more points). Players most likely to improve on their scoring rates beyond what I have there are Aaron Brooks, Luis Scola, Carl Landry, and Trevor Ariza. I'll boost Brooks by 1.5 ppg, and the other three by 1 ppg. So, here's my final answer (again, not including McGrady):

    Brooks: 32 mpg, 18 ppg
    Ariza: 34 mpg, 13.5 ppg
    Battier: 34 mpg, 8.5 ppg
    Scola: 33 mpg, 15.5 ppg
    Andersen: 22 mpg, 9.5 ppg
    Landry: 24 mpg, 12 ppg
    Lowry: 23 mpg, 8.5 ppg
    Hayes: 22 mpg, 2 ppg
    Budinger: 10 mpg, 5.5 ppg
    Taylor: 6 mpg, 3 ppg

    Total: 95 ppg

I think trying to add everyone's ppg to add up to what the Rockets will score will give a low estimate for each player. Players get hurt so their ppg may be for only 65 games out of 82.

Exactly what I was going to say. You can't add up everyone's ppg and get the team ppg average, that's not how it works. Some guys may not play every game because of coach's decision or injury. Just go back to last year and add up every player ppg and then see what our total team's ppg was. I bet it is different.

I just checked it and all the players ppg together was 103.8 ppg, but as a team we only averaged 98.4 ppg. It's only a 5.4 point difference, but there is a difference.
