I'm 28, married to JV for five years, first child on the way.
I was born in Philly. I lived in France, Algeria, England, Boston area, Maine, Cleveland Heights, and Chattanooga.
Attended the University of Chicago where I met JV (the first day, that was more than 10 years ago). I majored in Philosophy.
After college we stayed in Chicago for three more years durring which time I went to culinary school and we got married.
We moved to Houston to be close to his family about four years ago.
I currently own a cake business, teach some cooking classes, am fairly involved with Strangeland Books and help teach a Bible Study.

I'm 29 and I teach chemistry at a small college in a town we'll call Podunk, Texas. I grew up in the deep south and went to school at Rice and UT. I've always been young for my age (except in terms of career), so not grown up enough to have any kids yet. :) There's the chronically unemployed husband; I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that one. :( Anyway, I'd like to think my life is not over and things will come together and make sense at some point. I spend much of my spare time on music - I play percussion and piano. The science stuff is really more of a day job; I chose that path to make sure I had steady employment. Things are pretty busy around here during the school year. I love being around colleges and the whole lifestyle and campus culture.

There is not one single tidbit of information on this BBS that I'm more interested in knowing than Isabel's location. Not because I want to stalk her or anything, it's just that I've always noticed how she's always sure not to state it, so it drives up the curiousity.

Me? I'm 27. Born in Houston, raised in Katy (real Katy) with a couple of three month diversions to Aptos, CA, and Gurnee, IL. Graduated from SWT, Major hired me at Swirve.com, stayed in Austin until 2002. Followed a chick to Dallas, didn't work out, now I'm back home, a few weeks/months (she reads the board) from being engaged, and happy as hell. I love my new dog and I kinda dig this band named Dave Matthews Band.

I'm 36, single, and a native Houstonian. I grew up in the Clear Lake area, then moved to Meyerland and attended Bellaire HS. After finishing my undergrad degree at UT in three years, I returned to Houston for law school. I have moved around quite a bit since I returned to Houston in 1988, but right now rent a house on the southwest side. I drive a 2000 Lexus RX300.

When I am not working, taking a long drive, or proposing silly trades, I am most often reading some sort of fiction. Lois McMaster Bujold and Neal Stephenson are recent faves. I also do my best to support the local music scene, and occasionally take the stage myself to plunk out a few original songs on an open mic night.

Moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1970 when I was 5.
Became a Rockets fan during the Mo Malone years.

Have since lived in Lousiana (Baton Rouge and New Orleans), New York, & Denver). I earned a PhD in Mathematics along the way.

I now live in Pasadena, CA. I am an actuary for an institutional investment consulting firm.

I am a huge LSU fan. My biggest ever sports moment was LSU winning the National Championship in football. My second - the two Rockets championships. My third favorite was the dejected look on Karla Malone's face on Tuesday.

Is anybody else thinking of Isabel when they hear that "Rising to the occasion" commercial on the radio with the Biochemist with the... uh... ample upper torso... region? "A minimizer what? Nature should never be tamed"

Yes, UT has a mens team and a womens team. It's not NCAA, so you never hear about it. But 2 years ago, the womens team made it to the national championship tournament for non-NCAA teams.

I'm guessing that there is only one college in her small town and she is the only female chemistry professor so disclosing the name of her town would be the same as posting her social security number.

Isabel, if my wife was in Steve Martin's group while you were at UT, would you know have known her?

    Sure why not, here goes.......

I'm 18, I live in Dayton, Ohio, I am attending the University of Dayton this fall, I am undecided, but thinking of entering education. I currently work at the University of Dayton's bookstore, its not great pay but its good because I will be able to work there during the school year and have some cash. I play basketball and baseball all the time with my friends. I listen to all types of music, rock mainly, i listen to DMB every once in awhile, also listen to some outkast too.

Just turned 34, born in Phoenix but grew up in Hawaii, Tucson, and Houston as an Air Force brat. Left Clear Lake High after my Junior year to go to college (very bored in HS) to become a drug abuse counselor. Figured out I would make less than $35k per year as a counselor my whole life and turned to the IT field after stints as a waiter and electronics salesman. I am currently working on my MIS degree.

I have been married for 7 years and have a 5.5 month old son, 2 mutts, one indoor cat that is EXTREMELY fat and lazy (Garfield doesn't have anything on Lucky), and three outdoor cats, one of which goes on walkabouts for weeks at a time.

My mother is a hardcore conservative, my father is a major liberal, and I am somewhere just left of center.

I'm 19 years old, currently living in the Woodlands, Texas while home from school for the summer. During the year I'm in Austin going to UT getting my Computer Engineering degree; will be a Junior this coming Fal. Dad with ChevronTexaco so we got moved all over (Born in Corpus Christi, then Longview, Midland, Mandeville/New Orleans, and finally here in Houston). Mom's family has always been in Houston so I've been coming here all my life, I had the good fortune of starting to follow the Rockets in '93 and was actually visiting Houston both summers they brought home the Championships, so I got to be in the city for all the Clutch City madness, quite exciting for a young 8 year old (of course I also remember watching the Rockets get destroyed by the Sonics one year in the airport heading to Houston... that was rough... :().

I'm currently at Hewlett Packard interning for the summer with their Network Storage Solutions Department thanks to the fine folks of this BBS for helping me find the job. ;)

I just got out of a long-term, long-distance relationship that began when I was a Junior in High School, was on the verge of marrying her, but we both wisened up and decided to live a little more first, I never thought things would end between us, but now that they have I can see livin' single REALLY isn't that bad... I could get used to this. :D

(As you can tell from the length of my post, I really don't have much to do at work today. :p )

I'm 23 and was born in Baytown. I lived there until I was about 9, then moved in a small town called Huffman at the intersection of 1960 and 2100.

Got heavily involved in punk/indie rock as a teen, and it's had a lasting influence on me musically, academically, and politically.

Graduated a little early to get out of there, and I now live in Kingwood. I'd rather not say where I work or what I do. Let's just say I'm in the oil industry.

I like to spend my free time watching Houston sports teams, watching movies, playing videogames, and drinking good beer.

I'm really into samurai films, Sergio Leone westerns, cult horrors, and various other outsider/indie cinema.

When it comes to video games I can't put down NCAA Football 2004 or MVP Baseball 2004. I also love old arcade games, and one of my current goals is builing an awesome MAME cabinet.

Beer is a true love and my favorites are very hoppy ales, trappist ales, and creamy stouts. I'd love to find a drinking buddy in Kingwood. Molly's doesn't have a lot to offer, but I like that it doesn't attract an obnoxious young crowd. I may be young, but I'm hardly obnoxious.

I haven't met a single person in the Kingwood/Humble area with my interests since I moved out here, so if you're out there let me know.

I'm 31 years old and graduated from Alief Elsik in 1991. I went to UT and got a marketing degree at UT after I realized after a year there were no girls in the engineering school. I've lived in Austin since 91. I've been happily married for amost 7 years, have 2 dogs, and expecting a baby girl in August.

I am 33 years old. I was born in the Texas City Hospital and grew up in Clear Lake where my father worked for a NASA contractor. I went to school at SFA, where I met my wife. We both majored in art. I have been married for almost four years. We have two cats. We like to spend time hanging out at my patio bar, listening to stupid '80s music etc., while laughing the night away. :)

What kind of art do you do? I have a couple of ideas for political cartoons, but don't know anyone who would be willing to draw them.
