What hours would you be working in the Woodlands RMTex? IMHO, no amount of money is worth that drive, especially if it's during rush hours in Houston.
Geez, no "I commute from my bedroom to my living room" post from Jeff?? He's usually so pround of that fact...
RM Tex, don't forget what it'll cost you in gas, oil changes, tire wear and the endless sea of idiotic drivers you'll encounter.
when i worked for my dad, i drove from about the woodlands to the galleria everyday and it got pretty old very fast. my dad's been making the commute for nearly 20 years . the miles build up incredibly fast and with gas prices seemingly increasing by the day, weigh those factors heavily. traffic really annoys the hell outta me though, so take it for what it's worth. i'm currently commuting from san marcos to downtown austin for work, and while not as bad it's still a pain in the arse. i'm moving to austin in 2 weeks and one of the biggest things i'm looking forward to is a)reducing my commute time from 30-45 mins. to 10 and b)not having to fill up my tank every 3 days.
Important. I used to live in San Francisco and commuted to Silicon Valley. An hour + drive each way. I switched jobs (to a lesser company) so I could work in San Francisco, just 15 minutes from my apartment. But then again, maybe I'm the extreme -- i got in about 4 car accidents in 6 months, all in my commute, 2 of them because I fell asleep at the wheel. So I moved to New York City so I wouldn't have to drive anymore. Haven't touched a wheel in over 2 years.
Well, my job sucks, but the commute definitely doesn't help. From west Houston (I-10/8) to Angleton. Drive about 2 1/2 hours a day and work a 10 hour shift. Yeah, I'm looking for something else to do.
40 minutes each way, Champions Forest/1960 to 45/Cullen (UH main) I deliver pizza, so the commute doesn't bother me that much anymore
I know it was just a typo, but we could be on to something here. Retart, Maybe, maybe no, formortable, ride ride, Pround... How can we make this happen?
And 2 hours is on a good day -- every couple of weeks (or less) you'll double that on one of those really bad days. Those are tough days indeed.
I would not recommend that commute. I live near the Barker Cypress/Clay Road area and I work in the Woodlands. I've been doing it for a few years and it drives me nuts. I put nearly 30,000 miles on my car each year and my gas bill is routinely in the $150 range even though I have a 4 cylinder and buy 87 grade. Then there's the toll road fees, $4 per day round trip. It stinks. If it's a good job, you should move to Spring which isn't as expensive as the Woodlands and only about a 15 minute drive.
