Just found out the fiancee's dad got me two tickets behind the announcers for a future Rockets' game! Bill Worrell has an office in the same building as him! Woohoo!
$500 cash from my parents (which will be going towards a new lcd monitor) Cordless phones for the house Clothes BW3's gift certificates Return of the King Extended Edition Candy, various gift certificats, and other little things
My First Camera, ever I was shocked at the features available in a lil point and shoot need more than 16 meg memory it came with, good for 6 max quality photos
lpbman -- that's a very nice camera; I've got one myself. Pick up a 256mb Memory Card Pro (about $60) and you can shoot high-quality 640x480 MPEG video with it too. Haven't had a problem with it to date and it only takes a few minutes to grasp most of the features of the camera.
Ya, I'm pretty pumped about it myself I had really low expectations about getting gifts, as money is tight throughout my whole family right now The first pic I took looked great, and it looks like I'll have a lot to learn to use the manual settings to get the desired effects but that's cool, if it was completely brainless to operate I'd likley loose interest mfclark- What is the difference between the 640-480 regular and fine video? also, is it worth shelling out the extra money for the "pro" mem stick? never mind, a quick Pricewatch search brings the goodies http://www.bananapc.com/products/productInfo.aspx?category_id=810&product_id=14225 For 53 bucks, I'm not going to bother w/the slow stuff
1978 Kenner Millennium Falcon 1978 Kenner Dewback Lizard Nice Astronomy Book Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense dvd
lpbman -- the frame rate is the difference. The normal video is 16 frames per second, while the fine video is 30 frames per second. There's an example video available at http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/sony_p73/samples/MOV00045.MPG, though I'm not sure whether it's the fine or normal mode. Let it load in Media Player and run it; it sometimes takes even a decent computer a few seconds to catch up.
I bought myself this for all my hardwork over the last semester: Got a nice case for it from the parents... And then various presents from the family... And some cash/gift cards. Pretty good year...
not to bogart the thread, but @ that bitrate the 256 card will fill in less than 6 minutes... ah well, it's not a video camera also, Sandisk 256MB Memory Stick Pro @Newegg - $45 in case anyone is in the market
i got a panasonic-leica digital camera... http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wc...pId=17168&modelNo=DMC-FX7K&surfModel=DMC-FX7K it takes like 4 pics w/ the supplied memory card! what MB/second transfer rate is good for an extra memory card.......8? the 1GB panasonic card costs more than the camera itself
I got a "Christmas Story" figurine set with Ralphie, Mom, Randy, The Old Man and my own miniature copy of ' A Major Award'. I think I'll use it as my annual my nativity display.
I asked for... Family Guy Vol.1 Family Guy Vol.2 Halo 2 Burnout 3 Fight Night 2004 Rainbow Six 3 SNL Best of Will Farrell SNL Best of Chris Farley I got all that, plus... Olympus 3.6 Megapixel Digital Camera Dell Printer/Scanner/Copier A paper shredder ESPN NBA 2k5 $25 Circuit City Card $50 Target Card $20 Chili's Card $500 from the grandparents (I won't spend much of it though, it'll go into tuition payments) A fleece pullover A polo shirt I seem to always get way more than I expected...I always hate getting gifts from people that I didn't buy for, not because I don't like the gift but because I'm a broke college student. I usually only buy for my immediate family, brother in law and my niece and still spend almost $300.
I got: a new watch, a "Slow Learner" shirt, a $25 gift card to Wal-mart, a tin can of Popcorn (AWESOME!), and some scratch-off tickets. The thing that ticked me off was that I won on three of those tickets, one of which had one of those "Get this symbol and get double the prize amount" symbols, yet I only got a total of $7 out of those 3. There's got to be some kind of crazy odds with that, or they make those things a little more annoying than usual. Probably doesn't sound like much, but that was mostly because I didn't want anything for Christmas. If I wasn't still depending on my parents, I probably would have gotten a bunch of gift cards and money, but since I'm still a "baby," I can just ask my parents for stuff, which is part of the reason I didn't want anything. They already have been awesome to me, buying several tickets to Rockets game this year, including the awesome playoff win the Rockets had earlier in the year. They also got me several games this year, even though I feel uneasy asking for brand new games unless it is for my birthday or Christmas. Of course, they felt bad for some strange reason since they felt like they were supposed to get me something, but I'm in one of those "I have everything that I want" states-of-mind. I did finally tell them that they could "make it up to me" by getting me a PSP in March, or whenever it comes out. Oh, and I did get to throw some snowballs at both of them...hehehehe....so that kind of helped too, I guess. If worse comes to worse, I'll just check out my dad's present from "Santa." He decided to finally use one of these cool computer cases we have for something and ordered some stuff for it. He also had to get a wireless keyboard/mouse combo to go with it, which is something we haven't experimented with yet. I just kind of wish he got a good graphics board to go with it; he's just going with the motherboard GPU, at least for now. It is a shame, IMO, that a nice case with flashing lights and a see-through side panel with a metallic Blade-like weapon won't have a beefy graphics card backing it up. Everything else was good, including, IIRC, a gig of RAM, I believe a Intel 3.0 GHz with HT ( just like the phrase "Hyper-threading"), and a DVD/CD burner. Maybe that was his plan to keep me away from his "precious"...
