I found TMNT 1 to be extremely frustrating- could never finish it. Here's someone talking about how difficult that game was- pretty hillarious stuff but NSFW... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XjUz8IT0CYg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XjUz8IT0CYg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> But I have beat Mario 1 for NES in less than 15 minutes using warps / etc.
There were some games that you couldn't beat unless you had the Nintendo Power guides or just knew certain things. Turtles was one of those games.
I've beaten Guitar Hero II on Easy, Medium, and Hard. I got 5 stars on every easy and medium song. Same with Guitar Hero I, except I'm still working on beating the game on hard. On World Series Baseball 2K4 for the Xbox, I did GM mode (franchise + GM abilities) with the Astros. I gamecasted the regular seasons. I lost in the first round the first two seasons to inferior opponents. Then, I went on to win four straight World Series. I haven't played the game in a long time, but if I remember right I was at game 7 vs. the Red Sox in the 2010 World Series.
i don't care what anyone says, if you can beat any of the Metroid games, you're a badass. i remember finishing Metroid on NES. that damn game requires a lot of memorization and a bunch of hidden crap that you have to find on your own, w/o internet help. Even the Metroid games now are ridiculous. If you can get through those games w/o a walkthrough, I salute you.
Dude, I LOVED that game! I beat it several times. That was one powerful yo-yo that kid had. I second a Boy and his Blob as a tough game. I loved the concept behind it, but I would get lost deep in those damn caverns and always end up falling to my death somewhere. Could never quite figure out where to go.
Same here. There were actually over 5 patterns. I think I scored over 350,000 back in the day (1981?)
I once beat MegaMan 2 without dying. I was pretty proud of myself at the time and I had my mother take a picture. It sounds pretty lame now.
I never thought of it as much of an accomplishment, but upon reading Nintendo nerd's review of Double Dragon 3, it felt nice knowing I beat the game in a few days. Of course, my entire arsenal of moves consist of that annoying jumping spin kick. But once you got the timing down, you can beat everyone quite easily. Otherwise, pretty much nothing. I get my ass kicked all the time on strategy/FPS games like Warcraft by my friends.
Getting 100% in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City doing all the stunts and collecting all the hidden packages are pains in the arses
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater... the original. I achieved around 600,000 points on a 2 minute run on the very first warehouse level. Nobody I knew could even get past 50,000.
Halo - Beat it on legendary. I forgot my Tetris milestone, but I remember doing something awesome with that game too.
Actually, now that you mention it, my friends and I used to play Tony Hawk 2-4 like crazy in college. I once dropped a 1.4 million point score on my friend playing Tony Hawk Underground in the "expanded" warehouse playing horse. (that's one trick) But they added a lot of things in the later games where you could link vert tricks together.
