If you played that game on the hardest setting it was pretty tough, but I watched one of those speed runs on youtube and apparently the last boss wasn't nearly as hard as I was making it to be.
I complete all the games that I play; in my circle of friends that in itself is a big accomplishment.
Awesome thread idea, and, yet so limited results. Finding the "hidden" square in Adventure on Atari was more groundbreaking than any of you youngsters will ever know. It told us that there could be "secrets" in a video game. Kudos to the Adventure people who did that; they created the games we play today. My first great ending was Super Mario Bros. Unlike every other video game before it (sans Dragon's Lair), it was the first video game you could actually "win." Before that, it was all about your score. And I know y'all younguns don't realize this, but there were always "rumours" about other games where if you hit a score, it would take you to a different level. We, as kids, ate it up, even though we eventually learned it was a lie. Luckily, programmers followed those thoughts. These days? Hard to say. But I will say, as much fun as it was to see the ending of each chjaracter on Street Fighter 2 on the SNES, I've got to say I truly enjoy the FF series. It's almost like a video novel. I anticipate scenes as much as I would in a show I watch on TV. To those who haven't done FF; Believe me, I thought it was nerdy too. If you can engross yourself in a book, you'll love this series. Blargh.
I beat Turtles 1 numerous times. The only really tough part is the final hallway leading up to Shredder.
i played a full season of nba 2k2 with the magic. what i liked about that game was that you could control how well the computer shot, rebounded, etc. along with the various levels of difficulty (superstar, rookie, etc.) it was fun to actually lose games, i was like 60-22 for my season. and then, in the finals, i got to game 7 and was down by 2 with a few seconds left. i told myself that ill take this shot, if i miss, i wont replay the game, and i hit a 3 with tmac at the buzzer to win the championship. good times
While in Austin in 1983, I made a quarter last over an hour while playing Missle Command at a little dive video arcade on Guadalupe. For you old timers, it was close to the little shop that sold movie posters and between the Co-op and MLK.
I remember playing Looney Tunes basketball for the SNES.. it was actually a REALLY frickin' hard game. My team was like Elmer Fudd and Daffy.. we were playing Yosemite Sam and Bugs for the championship.. 1 second left on the clock, down by 2.. I threw an inbound pass to midcourt for Elmer.. he grabbed it and turned around and threw up a fade away three... swish.. game over. in your FACE, Bugs.
I'm impressed by everyone who's gotten far or beaten Turtles 1. I never got past that part where you can drive the turtle truck. I don't have too many really impressive accomplishments, but I have a few good ones. A few years ago, I sat down with Super Mario Bros. and beat it three times in a row. Many years ago, I got to the last level of Top Gun (which is hard as hell). Oh, the other day I played the original Nintendo Ice Hockey, and I beat the computer 17 to 1. Usually, I'm lucky to just win. For some reason, I was on fire that game.
The only game I ever really, really, really kicked ass at was Super Smash Bros for the N64. I never died, ever. I played it like it was a full time job in high school... Eventually my friends refused to play me since they were lucky if my hit % ever got above 50. Kirby ruled, end of story.
Used Pete Chilcutt on the basketball version of Techmo Bowl and scored 82 points. In that basketball game, for some reason, Chilcutt was capable of draining 3s just inside the half court line at a 60-65% clip. He was better than Tim Hardaway (my friend used him and I beat him regularly w/ Chilcutt)
I think this is the entire walk through of TNMT for NES. You can fast forward to the parts you never got to see http://youtube.com/watch?v=v_hLTKWF8zw
I spent hours everyday trying to beat one of these last bosses in Final Fantasy X, finally did it one day.
in Diablo 2, i had 6 of the 7 characters trained and equipped perfectly, sold my account for $250ish, thats before 1.10 came out. in CSS, was at one time ranked number 7 on a server of about 31,000
Ahhh... Top Gun. My dad and I beat that game. We had that huge NES Advantage controller. He'd fly and I'd shoot
