It's one of the happiest moments of your life. You get your first paycheck. That hard work has finally paid off for better or worse in terms of the hourly rate and your job. But what then? What are you to do with it?
Put it in the bank? Nah that seems a bit boring. Spend it all? That's a bit rash.
Some people have traditions such as treating the family to a nice dinner or donating a portion to charity.

So I'm curious to hear what you guys did with your first paycheck if you can still remember or what your kids did with theirs? Any family traditions?

You think its common for someone just to blow the entire first paycheck?

I initially got my first job because my dad refused to pay for my Haircuts. So that first check I used it on grooming; some was used on some a la carte items in the lunch line at school and the rest sat in a drawer until I was old enough to put it in the bank.

I saved my first few paychecks to upgrade my car. I had just graduated high school and worked the summer as an intern at a major oil firm in Houston.

I used the entire summer's pay to buy a spoiler, subwoofer, amp, new car stereo, car bra, and new wheels.

what a big waste that was.

It was some casual labor thing I did, got like 300 dollars, But i was in the ninth grade or something so I didn't have a bank account

I ended up depositing it in my parent's account. I totally forgot about it like a month later because at the time everything I really wanted my parents just bought for me. My parents actually made a copy of that first paycheck for me to keep

So technically I haven't spent it on anything yet

    Bought Christmas presents.

My first job was a seasonal hire as a stocker at Target (15 years old).

I bought a NES, Skate Or Die, and a NES Max. You could get big time air on the ramp with that controller!

Bought a guitar, bought my dad a Beretta hand gun, bought my mom a nice purse, used part of it for down payment on a car... The first paycheck included the signing bonus so I splurged a bit.

Yeah, same here. But they let me keep it. I think I put it in the bank and started saving up for a bookshelf stereo system... a Sony... pretty advanced for its time, if I recall. I also bought my first CD to put in that system ... C&C Music Factory's Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) single... aaaah memories...
