I know many people say Jordan. People need to realize that back in the day, there wasn't so many options to watch NBA basketball. It was usually on CBS then on NBC, later TNT then to ballooned to ESPN/NBA TV etc. The Bulls were ALWAYS on TV, same with the Lakers and Celtics. Plus the Bulls had their own network, WGN.
Not Orlando T-Mac? With the emphasis on Orlando? Oh wait, you were already grown up at the time.
I never really had too much love for players outside of the rockets, it was always favorite and least favorite rockets players. There were certain individuals that I really liked because I loved and wanted to mirror their game. Ray Allen was probably the best pure shooter I have ever seen. Jordan was obviously the best all around and best individual player. Shaq was a giant Michelin Man that could work you over but was never crafty or had legit post moves. Steve Nash was the PG making the game the most aesthetic. Baron Davis just looked cool. Vince Carter was one of the most athletic players I had ever seen. Contrary to many people on here, I never really cared or watched t-mac in Orlando, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't nuts about the guy when we got him in 04-05.

Stevie Franchise growing up.. was very upset when we traded him until i realized tmac was coming here.
1. Horry 2. Olajuwon 3. Jordan 4. Pippen (sorry, this was way before he dicked over the Rockets) 5. Barkley
I didn't have a favorite player growing up. Everyone played in cities other than Houston, so I watched them in black and white on the tube, but wasn't "invested" in the teams, one of which was usually Boston and their lineup of future Hall of Fame players. I did enjoy watching Wilt on TV when I got the chance. He was crazy good. Boston? The whole team was crazy good. My first favorite NBA player was the reason I followed the San Diego Rockets during their brief existence, Elvin Hayes. I think Elvin played one season in Houston for the Rockets, and then went where they would pay him (same thing that happened to Moses, more or less). The franchise was cheap back then, something that those who dislike Alexander should keep in mind. Les is a "high roller" compared to the early owners of the Rockets.
Oh and Vince Carter from when he was with Toronto.. His dunks were absolutely insane. Even though he's a prick, I loved the way he played... could have been one of the greats if he put more effort into his play when he was younger
I started watching basketball in 07. I would say my favorite player from Houston would be Yao Ming. And in the NBA it's Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant. I really enjoy watching tony Allen and Avery Bradley play cause if their defense (I have a similar game as them). In 09, I started to watch basketball classic games and I enjoyed watching Magic, Rodman, and Akeem Olajuwon.
Obviously I love Hakeem but, being born in 1993, all I had was stories from my father about his greatness. My favorite Rocket that I actually got to watch growing up was Steve Francis. He always went balls-to-the-wall with his supreme athleticism every game and I loved watching that. Players from other teams that I remmeber watching were those early 2000 Sacramento teams. Loved Peja Stojakovic and Vlade Divac especially. Also The 2004 Pistons with Ben Wallace!
As an early teenager, Mike Newlin. As a late teenager, Moses. College years and beyond: Dream Non-Houston: Dr. J, Magic, Drexler
