I figured we need a thread about this. Some of my favorite "hole-in-the-wall" places are Cue's Burgers and Fainmous BBQ. The burgers aren't the best in the world but they have awesome breakfast at a great price. Fainmous has some of the best BBQ around town. They provide catering which is great for me because I have clients I provide lunch to. Their pulled chicken is awesome along with their hot BBQ sauce. What are some of your favorites around town?
Al Aseel. Has some of the best friend chicken in town, and you don't feel worthless after eating it too!
Hole's in the wall? Moon Tower hot dogs, Calliope's po boys, Central Market sandwiches, Jarro Cafe tacos, Sweet Cup gelato. I feel like Tiny Boxwood's on West Alabama is literally a hole in a wall. Behind a wall.
Pappy's Cafe Best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas. Always my first stop when visiting H-town after moving away a couple years back.
Gourmet sandwich shop Local Foods will be opening a second location in the former Taco Milagro space at Kirby and Westheimer. Owner Benjy Levit tells CultureMap that the new location should open in 2014. My go to place used to be Ruggles..but now it's Local Foods. Love their salads and a side of beets.
It isn't quite Houston, but Bob's Tacos in Rosenberg is amazing. I grew up in Katy but I just moved to Westheimer @ Kirkwood, anyone know of any good spots near there? I know it is full of good places, just want some personal recommendations (I like all kinds of food)
I tried that place after it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. I don't get the hype. Tasted line your average tex-mex to me.
aroy thai cuisine- off 290 and fairbanks n houston. a big serving of good, real thai food at a great price. real small place so great for take out.
