whoa whoa whoa there. This is clutchfans, a proprietary subsidiary of t-mac.com. You mean to tell me that the Rockets made it out the first round without T-mac or Yao? That at one point in time, we were CLUTCH? Elie? EJ? Sampson? MadMax? Everybody knows that Juwan Howard was a better role player than all those guys. -------------------- On a serious note, I distinctly remember Clyde Drexler's first half game with the Rockets. There was all this buzz about PHI SLAMMA JAMMA, and it tailor made for the media. I think we were waiting for OT to pass his physical before Clyde could enter the game, and then he started the 2nd half. On the very last possession, Drexler BANKS a 30 footer to win the game, and Calvin Murphy's call on that was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I really REALLY hope I'm not making this up.
you guys forgot about this shot.. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/p8cjF1i0h78&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/p8cjF1i0h78&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> man those clutch city heroes rule
Sorry to burst the bubble, but that 30 foot game winner was not in Clyde's first half-game with the Rockets. It was the same season, but later on. If I recall correctly, Clyde's first half-game was against Charlotte (Hornets), and he later hit the 30-foot buzzer beater in Denver.
Although Kenny Smith is an idiot now. I have to admit his three against the Magic was the biggest shot I've see from a rocket.
Yep, EJ shot was nice, but I prefer the kiss of death, that was epic! A legendary moment in NBA history
Elie by a country mile. That kiss to the Phoenix bench following the splash was epic. Seriously, replaying the moments before the KoD shot, if Horry's pass out of the double team wasn't spot on and Elie did not caught it in rhythm, it would have been the biggest let-down ever.
I'd take Hakeem's tip-in vs Orlando in 95 over all those plays, if he wouldn't have made the series could have looked completely different, and credit to Kenny for making the first clutch-shot on Penny.
Thanks Well I agree with Mad Max and Hakeem's tip in...but i just think these two plus Ralph Sampson were some of the more noticeable and popular ones...add more great moments though, it is fun to watch again! Chilcutt
By the way, if we're talking "favorite game winners" T-Mac's dagger in game two of the Dallas series has to be up there for me. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2U5kpOMOgtM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2U5kpOMOgtM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> That was definitely the emotional peak of the T-Mac/Yao era. That moment had me convinced we had ARRIVED. T-Mac was one of the best players in the league. Yao was dominant. I thought this duo would get at least one championship together. Sigh......
Elie's shot was a series winner, so that's definitely got to be my favorite. Plus, I was at the game.
The 'Kiss of Death' helped bring the 2nd championship here, but the EJ shot was awesome....i forgot how good the team was back then (in 97). Sure do miss those times....
My, my, my....where has that Tracy Mcgrady gone? Unfortunately, that was probably the peak of the Mcgrady/Yao era. All I can do is hope that someone on this Rockets team has that same killer mentality...
Honestly, this one shouldn't even be this close. Elie's capped a massive comeback...he threw trash back at Phoenix who had been trash-talking the whole way through. Just amazing. Not taking anything away from EJ...but the context makes Elie's so much more dramatic.
