Greatest kids movie of all time, IM-not so-HO, narrowly edging out Where the Red Fern Grows.

They may have better animated kids movies today, but the live action movies were much better then.

When I think of classic movies, I think primarily of early B&W stuff from the 30's and 40's:

    Any Marx Brothers movie
    Gone with the Wind
    It's a Wonderful Life
    Frankenstein
    Bride of Frankenstein
    Dracula

    Modern era:
    To Kill a Mockingbird
    Cool Hand Luke
    Dr. Strangelove
    Godfather

    So many to choose...

[deckard]Attack on a China Mission Station was awesome! I was so scared at the time I almost soiled my undergarment it was so intense. Thank goodness I didn't since mother had just sewn it for me earlier that month from our pet sheep, wooly. That sheep didn't get me near as much tail as my owl, but I still was familiar with the corset, if you know what I mean![/deckard]

    P.S. Deckard is old. :D

Royal Wedding - I remember me and my sister would watch it on VHS when we were really young. I remember thinking that the two main characters were together only to find out later in my adolescents they were brother and sister. Hasn't been remade don't think it would translate anyway.

The Sound of Music - This is the definition of CLASSIC! I'm not ashamed to say I know every song in this musical. They should leave this one alone no remakes

Those last two are awesome on Bluray. They're remastered and have HD sound. Two of my favorite flicks and definitely two of the finest acting jobs ever uncorked by Wayne and Scott.

That's probably because you were a kid in the '80's and '90's as opposed to being an adult now.

I haven't read the whole thread... (I will do so when I finish posting)

Favorite Childhood movies - Sound of Music / Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (I tortured my brother with musicals!!)

Favorite Classic movies - hmmm either The Major and the Minor (I love Ginger Rogers) or On the Town - though I'm not sure either are considered classics, they are both older movies that I watch over and over again.

Thankfully none of my favorite movies have been remade.

You could chill in my house! all of those are great movies that I have on DVD or VHS!

I was a total AMC (and TNT Classics) junkie as a kid, so I have seen so many old movies it's not even funny.

Adding to this list... Desk Set, Three Coins in the Fountain, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Summer Stock, Notorious, Vertigo ... there are so many!!

Just remembered one of my favorites, and one many here may never have heard of, much less seen. I saw it when it came out. A classic Peter Sellers flick where he plays multiple roles, brilliantly.

    The Mouse That Roared, 1959.

So many to list but Letter From an Unknown Woman, 400 Blows and The Crowd are in my all time top 10.
