Lived in clear lake/houston my whole life. I remember when Baybrook was being built. I remember when the NASA visitor center was on site past the rocket park. I remember looking up during elementary school recess to see the shuttle on the carrier 747 back when they still landed occasionally at Ellington. I remember when there was nothing between 45 and the Space Center. Just cow fields. I actually dimly remember the old mini-airfield off of Hwy 3 south of El Dorado Blvd. I remember when Heritage Plaza was being built with the Maya temple on top. I remember luv ya blue, and that catchy "Cause we're the Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers number One! Ra Ra ra-ra-ra-ra" tune. I too remember games people play. I remember being scared on the slide with the long stretch inside that dark barn building.
Born in raised in Houston. 27 years old. I remember when Gulfgate Mall had a movie theater on a hill. I remember Astroworld and how awesome it was. I remember going to see the 'Stros at the Astrodome and the Rockets at the Summit. I remember when Pappa's BBQ was known as "The Brisket House." I still refer to it as that. I remember going to work with my mom downtown. I thought that was the coolest place ever. The tunnels were great. I remember when Chuck E Cheese was still Showbiz Pizza. Awesome thread. I just wish I were home to see everything change now.
I can not believe no one mentioned the Astrodome scoreboard. Almost too obvious, I guess. Could I offer anyone a hit of "Jean Michele Jarre, City in Concert"?
fatty - there was a little water slide park next door to that, too...can't remember the name...but it seemed like everytime i was there, there was a snake in one of the pools. EDIT: jungle surf!! that's what it was called.
Videocity In other news, Fatty owns this thread and is killing me post by post. THE ASTROWORLD MAP IS AWESOME.

what was the high school academic competition on channel 2, they don't still have that right? it was dominated by various private schools and bellaire, lamar, and the likes.
Pretty sure Circle K bought them out. Max, I haven't been there in ages. The original was a little place that used school desks for tables. Seriously. They had those wooden desks with the wooden top that came around on one side. I always thought it would be hard on a lefty to eat there. You could walk to it from the movies, but I don't recall the streets. I could eat three of the coneys, a bag of chips, and a bottle of Coke. Yum!
