Ditto for me although being blind would be VERY tough; however, I just couldn't imagine not being able to hear Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Tchaikovsky, or any other type of music I would want to hear.
Hearing is necessary in crucial phases of child development. The use of languages and even writing comes from what you initially hear. If you were born blind, all that brain power that went to eyesight would be rerouted. It's a tough call. I'd rather choose being deaf, but I wouldn't know how much I'd lose.
Deafinitely deaf. No more "WTF did you say?" questions, no more "hey, man, how come you guys use CC at your house? Can't hear?" stupid comments; we turn on the CC at home anyway because we're exhausted from hearing the kids all day; I know my wife is. I could NOT live in a world of darkness.
