the problem wasnt the last shot. It was the previous 3 possessions where harden tried to win the game all by himself instead of making the proper play. Instead he drove recklessly in the lane against two people trying to flop his way to the foul line and refused to pass the other possessions to open teammates. The TS, knows this so he slyly made a bait troll thread about the last shot trying to excuse harden's selfish scottie pippen i have to be the one to win the game move. you aint fooling anybody TS. crap dishonest thread.
Can't believe over 200 people voted. Some of you need to go back to school for reading comprehension and logic. LOL.
My logic as I was watching the game was McHale is going to draw up a play to get Harden a shot which he I was pretty confident he would miss cause it was clear he had no legs under him. Harden had missed all of his shots in the 4th after all & even Bull was saying early in the 4th, is Kevin going to take him out cause we need him fresh towards the end of the game. McHale didn't take Harden out which I agreed with no way you sit him down with the game so close. I believe Jones had hit a 3 in that quarter, Lin had hit 2 3's in the quarter, Beverly was 1 for 3 in that game so I wouldn't have had an issue with a play where Harden breaks down the D then swings it to somebody else for a open 3 point shooter. I don't think anybody on this board would have complained if Harden had created for somebody else for that final possession as opposed to himself. Nobody would have accused him of being a choker. I would prefer the ball being in Hardens hands but in this specific situation it was clear he had no legs cause he was exhausted. Anyway it is a learning experience for the entire team can't be mad at how things played out.
This is one of the shots the fans are debating: http://hcd-1.imgbox.com/acmR49oF.png?st=2WBJbSfSmfufd7FwzPleCg&e=1365906542 It was not the last shot, which Harden had every right to shoot since he was open. This is one of Harden's three back to back ISO's right before the last shot. Do not be fooled by the OP when he keeps talking about the last shot to draw your attention away from this play. To be fair to Harden, if he had made this shot, the play would not have been open for debate. In any case, Lin had just made 2/2 three pointers. Some would say he has the "hot hands". So right after that, Harden goes for the CONTESTED three pointer instead of passing the ball to Lin for an OPEN three pointer. You can see Lin clearly wants the ball. Did Harden make the right move by going for the CONTESTED three pointer? Just remember that hindsight is 20/20, and that maybe Harden was feeling good right before he took the contested shot. Sometimes you go with your gut. Sometimes you go with the open man with the "hot hands."
I think you have a dark motive for your posts. It's the same stupid poll question as one that would've asked "should your best player play defense like he did tonight, EVERY NIGHT?" The answer is obvious, and yet lacks context of how Hardrn carries us on offense and plays big minute, plus he's only 23. So I won't put it up. But it is the same as this case. Of course Harden should take the last shot. But should he take the last 4 as isolation plays without involving his teammates first, having not made a FG in the 4th quarter (no legs, hey he finally played defense for the first time, so he's tired), and having not made an isolation FG in the second half against a superb Memphis defense that packs the paint well and has Tony Allen guarding him on the perimeter. So the OP makes bull**** and idiotic thread and poll, and it isn't surprising given your post history that you follow these around and try to defend them. And you add your little gems of 'McHale hater' and 'Harden scrub' which no one but yourself is saying.
they traded him because they couldn't afford him. Of course they're gunning for top see, they have freaking Durant, and A bunch of others that are good (Westbrook, Ibaka, Martin now that he gets wide open threes)
You give it to your star player 98% of the time and say "hey, go get us a bucket", no ifs and's or buts. That is why they are paid the big bucks. I also like how you mention that Jeremy had the hot hand but don't acknowledge James. He had a tremendous 3rd quarter where he just went on a tear from deep and he was extremely aggressive. He was playmaking like a mad man out there, reminded me of the OKC game where he was getting everyone open shots. Do I have a problem with giving him the ball and have him make a bucket? Of course not, that is why he is a budding superstar. Do I like the Iso drive to the paint? No, not against Memphis who can lock down the paint most days. He should always have that score first mentality.
The reason we get into the situation like Friday is we do not have a legitimate post game! A turn over from harden iso usually leads to fast break point from the other team because everyone stands in the corner and he put his arm out. When the game is officiated to be more physical, he get no call but a TO instead.
So nobody is constantly blaming McHale for every problem the Rockets have, and blaming Harden for taking too many shots? Just some simple sarcasm about the weather on the GARM this season. "Dark Motive" seems a bit extreme, but if thats your opinion feel free to post about it. James Harden, Kevin McHale, and Jeremy Lin are all going to be around in Houston for quite some time so I just hope the polorized fans can get over their allegiances and root for the team to win over anything else. Sorry if that motive is too dark for the GARM.
And right on cue, "gems" like this one pop up- http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=236995 And Im the one with a "dark motive"
You do know that Westbrook is a combo guard right? He is not a "pure" PG, in fact, he played SG in college.
