I just tried the simple 'tape-on-mouse-sensor' trick on 3 co-workers. I was unsuccessful the first time b/c it was a laser mouse, the 2nd guy figured it out in a couple of minutes and gave me a loud "Ha-Ha" mocking laugh. The 3rd was the best... it had been 10 minutes, and he was still fiddling with the USB cord and settings on his computer! A fellow conspirator then went to his aid hehehe I also taped down the tab on the 2nd guy's phone... I hope he doesn't get an important call any time soon.
The tape on the phone thing wouldn't work for me. I always use speaker phone to answer calls. Edit: I have my own office... so that helps
LOL, so my coworker across the cube wall used another mouse to plug into the back of my computer, and he just kept on moving it an inch or two every few minutes. Not sudden/excessive movements, just a couple of inchest at a time. At first I thought it was the mousepad, cause optical mice do that sometimes on some surfaces, where the pointer just "glides" when the mouse isn't being moved. So I replaced the mousepad and still the cursor kept on moving when I was working on a spreadsheet. Finally I took a look behind the computer and saw an extra USB cable running underneath the cube wall. I unplugged and yanked it pretty hard, then I heard a laughter from the other side. SIGH!
I did the tape on mouse thing to my boss a couple of years ago (among other things I taped down to his desk). But the highlight of the show was reserved for one of my coworkers. I used masking tape to seal off the entrance to his cube with a giant X, and I put up a sign that read "Severe ESD VIOLATION. Access Prohibited" (which basically means that he had violated electrostatic rules in a major way and had been written up). Needless to say, when he got to work he completely freaked out.
