This is hard....I've seen Elvis Costello about 20 times in three countries....he's the reason (indirectly!) I'm married to a great woman. He should be # 1, but.... The Beatles are the alpha and omega of pop music for me. I loves me (obsessively) some Dylan, Bowie and James Brown, but the Beatles rule.
Nine Inch Nails ...though if Portishead was still making records, it might be a more difficult decision.
Not a bad choice at all, I was thinking Queen, but I think Pink Floyd is now my favorite band, taking Queens place.
Yeah, I've been on a little Counting Crows binge recently...listening to 'em in the truck, at work, at home....great stuff! Fun to mix in some bootlegs, as well as the cd material.
I can't get into the new stuff. On the other hand, I have got to find my copy of "Recovering the Satellites" - or buy a new one. Or something. Well I guess you left me with some feathers in my hand Did it make it any easier to leave me where I stand? I guess there might not be too many who would stand beside you now Where'd you come from? Where am I going? Why'd you leave me 'til I'm only good for... waiting for you All my sins... I said that I would pay for them if I could come back to you All my innocence is wasted on the dead and dreaming
Ha ha....funny you mention that. I actually bought an extra copy long ago because "A Long December" on my original was slightly messed up. However, I never opened the extra copy of RTS, and I still have it around here somewhere. You live in the Austin area, right? You are more than welcome to have it if you want it. Just email me at jungerules@hotmail.com if you want it. Regardless, I was listening to AAEA yesterday, and the Live and Across a Wire stuff today. I do like the new stuff, but nothing can hold a candle to AAEA, and then RTS at times. I like it all, but I still think those are my two favorites by far. I just got a new bootleg the other day of this special show they did in NY at the end of 2004. Good stuff, lots of funny stories....
Audioslave.....Chris Cornel and Tom Morello are feaking ballers.....their concert on monday was one of the greatest experiences of my life bad a**
Agreed! Those two are awesome. I wish I could see 'em in concert sometime, though. I already said Led Zep was my favorite earlier in the thread, but I just wanna say who my second favorite band is, too. Stone Temple Pilots I know no band will ever touch Zep as my favorite, and I really don't think anyone will ever challenge STP as my second favorite. I think they are one of the most underrated bands ever. I never hear anyone talkin' about 'em and I don't get why. Scott Weiland has such a great voice, and the DeLeo brothers produced some of the greatest riffs/beats I've ever heard. True, they don't have the best lyrics, but music is largely about what sounds good. I don't think anyone in the 90's sounded better. Although Green Day, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and 311 come distantly close. If you only know several songs by them, I highly recommend them. "Core" is about as good as a debut effort can get. Pick up that and then Purple if you have any desire to get into them.
Great choice. They're definitely in my top 5. I don't know enough stuff by them at this point, unfortunately. I only know 31 songs by them, but want to get more. I take it you have their whole collection, perhaps, and could give me more of your take on them, possibly.
