John Lucas was a better point guard by far than both of those guys. Murph was really a shooting guard in a point guards body.
All these players have Heart. Excellent list. The Rockets are known for gritty, hard working, tough players. They have pride.
He was a better playmaker for sure, and if we're picking this team by people in their prime, then I agree with putting Lucas on top (1985-1986 season with Rockets). But even that year, he only played 65 games; he rarely had a full season without missing a bunch of games. I probably have too much nostalgia for little Murph and all the games I watched as a kid, without being too discriminating about what was happening on the court.
