Also back in the 94 playoffs, the rockets blew a 18 point lead in game 1 vs the suns and a 20 lead in the 4th quarter in game 2. Well, we responded well by coming back to win the series. So while it does suck to blow leads, it doesn't necessarily mean that we can't do damage in the playoffs.

If you thought Novak and Vspan were going to get extended minutes early on in the season you do not understand basketball.

If you think that we should have a more "wide open offense" you do not understand basketball.

If you do not recognize that so far we are exceeding expectations (given our schedule and other considerations), you do not understand basketball.

So I agree w/ Jeff, we have room to improve (we have to improve if we're gonna make a run at the championship), but everyone needs to chill on the criticism because it could be much worse (it could be last season, ooh, shunder)

I'm happy with 9-4. But I still have concerns:

Rox 1-4 against teams with .500 or better, the only win came when Dallas was in the middle of a 0-4 start. In other words, Rockets haven't won any game against good teams when they played well.

8 of the 9 wins came from playing against teams with a combined record of 25-55 (31% winning percentage) , won almost all of those games by a small margin, had collapse in most of the games.

Now the schedule gets tougher. Let's see how it turns out.

I cant make a thread bc i am a rookie, but we are ranked top 5 in ESPN. Didnt know where to post this. I am sure someone will make a thread about it.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/powerranking

From this site: "Van Gundy speaks out against the ''Rocket hate'' he keeps hearing. But I'm guessing he'll gradually be able to tune it out if Yao and T-Mac can win nine of every 13."

Well I never! We would be very unlikely to be having a beer together as I am not a drinker. I had my heart set on a 15-01 run to start the season,as I thought that we had the talent to do so . If we were discussing the matter, injuries and poor supporting cast player selection were the reasons for the failure of last season. How could anyone with a sane mind blame it on JVG? In fact I felt sorry for him and all the stress it placed upon him. No true Rockets fan would wish that the Rockets loose games to effect the status of the team coach.
I'm questioning that the coach seems to be making little effort to develop Novak and V Span, yet clearly gives credence and playing time to Howard and Padgett, who have experience but are well past their prime and at times make minimal contribution. I am also concerned about the coaches relationship with Bonzi Wells. Is Bonzi really getting into playing shape or has he been inalienated by JVG to a point that the team won't benifit for all of CD's/Tmc effort to coax Bonzi into being with a potentially contending team. These are the main topics of concern that I have about JVG this season. Legitimate questions to be asked!

Just to let you know about me and JVG.
When Jvg was brought in to be the Rockets Coach, he was presented to the media at a meeting held in a large hut which was being used as an onsite HQ at the developing Toyota Center.
I was the only Rockets fan who waited outside for two hours in the hot summer sun to meet JVG, when the presentation had finished and tell him how glad we were to have him as our coach. No other visible fan even made the effort to attend in the open.
I respect JVG even though , like many , I don't always agree with his thinking, HATE never comes into the equation.

Among our businesses, we used to own a Confectionary Shop, eating cakes and having them was never a problem for me.

    DD,

I don't disagree with what you are saying. The Coach is not really an offensive coach and has his limitations. Sometimes, I get annoyed at him for several other things.

My point is that while YOU might offer constructive criticism, 99 percent of the HATERS offer the Bush "black and white" view of the basketball world. Wheres the grey area?

Getting another coach in here will happen if this year is a total waste. I already said that I need a 2nd round, 6 games effort from the team for me not to call for his head.

The problem here is the ones that start "Gundy sucks" threads after game two Thats the point.

No person is beyond criticism. But this is Coach Hate. Look at the "Gundy Sucks" thread that started not even 3 games in! Thats beyond r****ded. And that thread is dead right now. But what you do you think will happen the minute we lose one freakin game?

    Thats Hate.

It seems like a lot of this is caused by people who follow the Rockets for the whole game each and every game. Then they hear what sports writers or announcers say about the media darling teams, and see highlights. But just seeing the highlights gives an inaccurate impression of those teams.

If people would watch those teams multiple games, the whole game, and see the mistakes, defensive lapses etc. then maybe the appreciation for the Rockets would be greater.

I don't know what it is, but it is hard to read all the crap being piled on our winning Rockets, by people who call themselves fans.

I'm not saying I don't like criticism. I have criticisms of the team myself, and enjoyed reading different well thought out thoughts on both the good and bad of the team. But so much of the time it seems like perspective is just thrown out the window.

Sadly, I don't know what can be done about it.

    omg

are you developing a sense of humor??

    will wonders never cease?

    Almu, exactly...
real honest to god criticism based in common sense and logic is something that wouldnt bother me one bit...its the unfounded hate for every little thing that someone could possibly come up with that bothers me.

You gonna hate....err....criticize....any of the guys on the team....at least have a honest argument based in logic and common sense....you would see the whining about the whiners dissapear....

    well, most of it anyway.
