I just don't feel good enough when Rox blowing 15-20 point lead late in the game becomes a habit. Rox won't go too deep into playoffs playing this way.
bingo! that's the point people seem to miss. Arguably the only quality teams Rox beat are Mavs and Heats, neither of which were in good shape when Rox played against them. I bet Rox will lose to Mavs now if playing like tonight.
And Happy Thanksgiving to you too! Great post Jeff! I am thankful that there are some non-whining posters left! I am thankful Chuck is back and was able to play in ten days instead of 14. I am thankful V Span didn't get any turnovers in this game - insure more minutes in the next one. I am thankful that J Howard has learned to rebound.. he had 8 tonight. I am thankful Yao did not bleed profusely tonight *at least not that anyone noticed and mentioned. and I am thankful that Luther Head and Rafer Alston don't read these boards, because they would have never taken the shots they did tonight because yall have talked smack about them when they are doing well. Anyone else wanna give thanks about the team?? Have a great Holiday everyone ... see ya for the Memphis game!
Cmon Jeff, you've been around long enuf to know that the "play, boki, reecegaines,EG,badiane, barretNOW!" syndrome is always more important and prevalent than WINS! That syndrome and the always popular if not more vociferous "player A sucks, player B sucks, coach A sucks and coach B sucks" is that which has defines message boards all over the globe! Ahh bring back memories to the threads about "francis suck" "mobley is stupid" "jim jackson sucks" "play nachbar" "Rudy T's ISO sucks!" "Yao is a p***y!"
haha ..so true. I really admire those who notice these trends every year, rather than complaining every year.
Um dude... we are 12 games into the season and your making judgements on how we will look in the playoffs?? We are a month+ from the All star break for god sakes. The concern now should be first winning, second winning and lastly WINNING! The season is 82 games long man... teams that make the playoffs and go far dont usually resemble or play like they did in November and December, but rather are fortunate enough to play well enough in those early months to WIN despite still working on execution and gelling.
I'm happy about our record, but those cold spells are going to cost us eventually. We've got a dead eye shooter sitting on the bench. He'll get his chance but the frustration is understandable. I bet JVG is talking to the team like we're 4-8.
You must not watch Basketball much. Did the spurs blow 10pts in one minute to lose the game to us 2 years ago and went on to win the Champion. Double digit lead in this league is nothing. You see teams blow it away almost every night. Having said that, I do think it's an area that needs improvement too. But consider half of roster has changed this year. 2 new starters. Yao's our #1 offense option, all that and early in the season. Just relax and enjoy our development as a team, dont get too caught up by the specifics of a game. Also another factor, as Jeff mentioned, we are attemping 2nd most 3pt shots in the league, so when we make them we gain big lead quickly. 12, 15 points lead is really 3-4 3 pts difference.
it's like some people don't realize we still have 70 GAMES left to play... get back to me if we're making these same mistakes in march. until then, give it a rest.
Relax, we've played like 1/8 of the regular season. Look at this way - we're learning that we're good and teams are learning that they have to take us seriously now.
True, based on last year's play and how critics doubted our health, we should be under .500 but we are well over that. I'm seriously thankful to be a Rockets fan through thick and thin, and this year + off season has been exciting with its ups (novak, vpsan and bonzi signing) and downs (losing rudy gay for battier which of course is a +, and having questions about our starting PF). I think those who've been through the tough playoff drought years and dissapointments like last year definetly see the huge returns of this championship contending team. It's great to see us kick ass! (though really, we shoudl be kicking MORE ass with those 2 stupid losses, but im not complaining. ) happy thanksgiving and I hope everyone geets plenty to eat. And Yao, eat up that chicken soup your mom makes and tracy, keep eatin that shark fin soup!
You know what? A man without distant care must have near sorrow. Some concerns are justified. Without Snyder being hurt so Vspan gets to see the floor, we might sitting at 6-6 now. Generally I kinda like JVG, but sometimes his inability to play special players in special situation really drives me crazy.
It's good to think more positively when you are down and low. It's also good to think less positively when you are up and high. Complaining is not the same as criticizing. I understand a lot of you guys are tired of reading those posts full of complaints and I share the same feeling too. It's ture there are a lot of posts from fans who don't have too much basketball knowledge, who don't follow the team closely to the details, and who just want to express their unhappiness because the team doesn't perform to meet their expectations. However, I believe when not denying the team's progressing towards the right direction, one also must keep a clear mind that there's more work should be done and since this is the #1 fanbased basketball team in the world (thanks to Yao), it is not surprising to see more criticisms occur, which in my opinion, should be filtered and identified, and should not treated the same as complaints, whines, and garbage. If you ignore those useless negative posts and keep your mind open, then you would find absorbing the points from those criticizing posts could be less painful and somehow mindboggling. Praising or critisizing, we all want to see this team succeed, don't we?
THANK YOU for finally saying what I and countless others have been feeling. This board has been so clogged up with negativity and hatred lately that I've found it painful to post, much less read anything. And besides, did yall really think we were just gonna come out this year and be 100% unflawed? These are the things great teams go through, these are the trials and tribulations that our Champions team will look back on in June and realize that by overcoming these adversities, we defined ourselves. When it's all said and done, it won't be that big, beautiful Larry O'Brien Trophy hoisted above their heads that will matter; but rather the little steps they took along the way to get it. Go Rockets.
I think if you watch the games you'd realise the majority of the people are confused why they lose large leads coming into the 4th so many times. During the 4th quarter , jvg just hasn't been making the best decisions, they have 2 of our energetic rookies warming the bench when they are an apparent boost for the 4th quarter when all our starters have played 35+ minutes. We lost a lot of games where we had leads against our rivals. Against teams we won against, we lost lead and barely won..which isn't credit to JVG either?! SO that's why the fans are complaining! Efficiency in the court is what fans applaud. We don't play well..so don't expect no criticism. I'm not even complaining a whole lot but i'm also not saying jvg doesnt deserve any criticism at this point. His stubborness in trying to bump heads with Bonzi is also a stupid thing if you think about it. Because the faster he gets into the team, the faster he'll get in nba shape.
Just for the record, there is no such thing as "should." If something "should" have happened, it WOULD have happened. Since it didn't, it wasn't meant to be. Better to live with what is than to wish for what isn't. Oh, and it's funny how many people missed my ENTIRE point. Happy Thanksgiving.
