Oh man, you got that right. My wife is 26 and I really get on her about that. She really does it with her friends. 'like like like like'...ugh. She even asked me to help her because she realizes it's not very professional. You even see this here on the BBS- most people type like they speak, and you can tell the young ones by how many times they type 'like' into their posts.
When I was 20, I was a trainer for 2 soccer teams. The U-14 team is now well out of college and starting families/careers. The U-12 team is now either out of college or just finishing. I get the reverse every Sunday night, however, with my softball team. I am 32 and there is 1 other player that is 33. The next youngest is 49. They'll be talking about some event when they were all in college at UT and I'll say, "I was 2 when that happened." They hate me for that.
I do that with the girls at work.. they are all in their 40's & 50's and they will be talking about something... and my comment is always "You don't want to know how old I was when that was happening" It was really weird when some of the kids I used to baby sit started graduating from high school and college. One of them is getting married next year (which REALLY makes me feel old!)
nba players that are younger than me makes me feel old... all the younger guys that mack on me... aches of my knee and wrist... 26 is not old yet so i'm gonna wait til i hit 30...
Where were you when Moses Malone took Larry Bird's Celtics to Game 6 at the Summit? I was at The Summit
Wait until that one morning when you groggily open your eyes, look up into the mirror, blink, and say, "Dad?"
I can relate to him. When I was 19 I was taking 20 credits (7 classes) and working 2 jobs at 30 hrs/wk. And my back had already been forever screwed up from so many basketball injuries. Maybe his reasoning is different, but it can happen...
Sitting next to my Dad on the couch in our living room watching it on TV. Like, does that like, make me like, a youngin'?
I think your example is different from "feeling old". I mean, I went through something similar to what you went through few years back (17 hours in the fall, 16 in the spring, 12 in the summer, and then another 14 in the fall....basically school non-stop) and I was working about 20-25 hours a week. That didn't make me feel old..just tired Feeling old is when I'm talking to a friend that's a few years younger than I and this is what happens: Friend: What are you doing? Me: Watching The Breakfast Club Friend: Never heard of it Me: What?!?!? You've never heard of The Breakfast Club???? It's a classic! Friend: I'll wikipedia it later ....!??! now THAT's a feeling of old age.

i just had another old moment reading this part of your post. "black bart" t-shirts popped into my head. came out when i was in elementary school. man... seems like only ten years ago or something.
When I can say to people: "When I was your age Pluto was a planet." A lot of people I went to high school with had younger siblings. I will run into a sibling of one of my friends and they will be sporting a college t-shirt and look older than me. And I can remember when some of them were born or in diapers. I really miss the days before cell phones. I am 22 and didn't get one until I was 18. Now they're almost a problem instead of a "making communication easier" device.
a couple of years ago, i was at a high school youth leadership program as a coach. well, the coordinator asked to make a mixed CD for the kids so they can dance. he said, "no profanity or sexually explicit songs." great, huh? it took me about 3 hours to find the songs. then, i realized all the songs on there were 80's and 90's. well, that didn't go over too well at the dance. these kids were freaking born in the 90s. they had no idea what the hell i was playing.
"You know parents are the same No matter time nor place They don't understand that us kids Are going to make some mistakes So to you other kids all across the land There's no need to argue Parents just don't understand"
