You don't need a shotblocker big man to have an excellent defense

The highest percentage shot on the court is in the paint. In this league, perimeter defenders are defending with both hands tied behind their backs versus ultra quick and athletic guards. Someone has to protect the goal. Very, very simple fact.

 

For the past two seasons we have been taking a calculus exam using a pencil with a gnawed off eraser. It is possible to pass, even to ace the exam. But it can be ugly, and takes extreme preparation and patience. Things would be a lot easier with a proper eraser.
