"Piss people off" and "get attention" come to mind.

even if that were true (it's not), what's "political" about it?

I think you might be taking that term a little too literally.

It has a political tinge to it, but you're not running for office or anything.

i'm sure you've noticed that i have no problem starting overtly "political" threads, many of which no doubt piss (some) people off. if that were my intent, wouldn't have been simpler to just create a thread where that intent were obvious?

Regardless of what we say, you will obviously deny it. There's no point to answer your question. I was just simply stating that regardless of if you were or were not politcizing, everyone on this board will assume you did. Doesn't it bother you that your rep has reached this level and nobody takes your (self-proclaimed) genuine non-political posts seriously?

Okay, now that it's in D&D, I'll tell you what the political goals were-

You want to take the general good will, support, empathy that people naturally feel toward special needs kids and their parents and wrap it around Palin. That's fine. Politicians of all persuasions and their supporters do this kind of thing all the time, but as usual, your monumental intellectual dishonesty requires you to deny that's what you're doing.

If you honestly just wanted to focus people's attention on special needs kids, you could have easily posted that video in the hangout on its own and nobody would have a problem with it, but you just can't help your self.

LOL - you start a Palin thread in the hangout, complete with two political quotes (one from Palin of course) in your signature, as per usual - another flagrant transgression of BBSettiquete (which I have logged in my personal files).

That, combined with your years of outstanding work here in the D&D - was enough to render your thread unto D&D, where it belongs.

Your chickens have come home to roost my friend. And as malcom x said, chickens coming home to roost is not necessarily an unhappy occassion

Palin is interesting when talking about Autism because the risk of having a baby with autism goes up as a woman gets older. I was just looking at a site that says it increases 30% for women over 40.

my sister had a baby at the age of 42, however he doesn't have autism but its a risk.

I can't see the video so this is what i'm talking about

no one gets more annoyed at Basso's antics than me, but I honestly can't see what made all of you guys overreact to what looks like a usual Basso thread.. is it because it was in the hangout?

I mean, I agree that including the Palin picture was provocative, but unless he edited something out, I don't see any provocative commentary in his OP and it looks like he included the stupid hockey mom's picture out of ignorance rather than to "score a political point"..

but then again, I don't know him as well as all of you old schoolers do, but it seems like the responses he's getting are not really warranted considering he has done much worse things in the past in the D&D..

honestly, i think for some people there's just no greater sin than a Palin Positively Portrayed (see Mark, MC), so rather than look at what's right in front of them, their baser instincts kick in.

They miss the fact that she made a courageous choice, and is a strong, loving mother of child most of them would rather not be "inconvenienced" with. and i say this last, with personal acquaintance with several women who have each have multiple abortions of convenience. to a person, they are snide and dismissive of Palin.

yet while possessing this knowledge, you trolled the non-political forum, provoked this reaction, and then threw a tantrum when you elicited the anticipated response.

but isn't that what ANY non-crack addict mother would do if she had a special needs child? I mean, how many women do you know toss their special needs child in the trash? not very many..

now, if as your post suggests Palin knew about the condition her fetus had early enough for the possibility of an abortion, and she CHOSE not to abort it, then I consider that the height of selfishness and ignorance.. if you could save your child the pain of growing up as a special needs kid, you DO IT..

now this is a big IF, so my last paragraph could be disregarded if she didn't really "know" about this early enough, which would contradict what your post suggests..

anyways, the video is actually quite sweet, and it's a shame that your track record of trolling resulted in the derailment of an otherwise positive thread..
