No kidding. There at least used to be some comedy behind it. Now it's just sad, low energy, and lacking in effort.
https://www.chron.com/news/houston-...D-superintendent-who-made-racist-13245193.php Federal documents say Redden served as both the district's civil rights coordinator and the Title IX coordinator, which ensures compliance with federal sex discrimination laws.
Let me tell you - it's really hard to stay in character for just a few years. I couldn't do it. But TJ....the man is a rock - I've yet to see him get tripped up. It's so impressive that you begin to think that he's not playing a character - that this is who he is in real life. "Dad, I don't want to eat my vegetables" TJ, "Premium advice boy - Eat your veggies or you will end up like a black quarterback who can't be trusted. GOOD DAY."
We are definitely past ... peak Trader Jorge. He had a good run, but now he is just a barely tolerable self parody of his younger self.
I see we have our first straw man argument, complete with stereotyping and a sweeping generalization for good measure.
As a thought experiment, someone make a list of white NFL QBs and take a WAG at how many of those can be counted on? 10% or less would be my guess.
I think it's within a couple months on either side of primaries and elections. He'll be gone again by mid-Nov and reappear sometime in late 2019.
If this guy sold propane and propane accessories and made these comments on facebook....... I don't care. He is entitled to his opinion and God knows he wouldn't be the first to say that "blacks can't QB"...... I have heard blacks cannot process information as fast as white QB's.... I have heard that because of slavery, blacks are not natural leaders so they are best suited to be a running back and not a QB...... I have heard blacks are not disciplined enough to play QB...... and the classic: "Blacks just aren't smart enough". The problem here is that he is in charge of a ****ing school district.... I also find his defense that it was supposed to be a private message odd...... There isn't much difference between what he said and when these were popular trinkets...
https://abc13.com/sports/school-superintendent-resigns-after-comment-about-texans-qb-/4311341/ Dude resigned
Classy resignation letter, imo. Redden's full resignation letter: I want to express my deepest apologies to the Board of Trustees, Staff, Students and Patrons of the Onalaska Independent School District for the comments I made on Facebook. The comments were wrong and inappropriate and have been an embarrassment to the District, my family, friends and to me. For this I am deeply sorry. As an educator, this experience has taught me that I still have a lot to learn. My comments were not only uninformed but also hurtful and I understand now why they were offensive to so many people. I'd like to apologize directly to Deshaun Watson. I recognize that given the opportunity to respond by criticizing or belittling me, he chose peace and positivity instead. In spite of the terrible position I put him in, he showed himself to be the kind of role model I'd be proud for any of my students to follow. Also, I want everyone to know that my comments in no way reflect the nature of the Onalaska Independent School District or the Onalaska community. These are caring, thoughtful communities where there is no place for racism. Moving forward, I believe it is in the District's best interest that I resign from my position. Accordingly, I hereby submit my resignation as an employee and as Superintendent of the Onalaska Independent School District to be effective 11:59 p.m. September 22, 2018 My resignation as the Superintendent and an employee of the Onalaska Independent School District is tendered, subject to, and in accordance with, the terms, conditions and provisions of that certain Voluntary Separation Agreement between the Onalaska Independent School District and me effective the 22nd day of September, 2018. I would like to thank the OISD School Board of Trustees and staff for the past 12 years of working with you in Onalaska and in the field of education. I do hope that those who know me well and those who have worked with me will remember me for my body of work over 42 years in public education, rather than by my unwarranted and inappropriate comments. Sincerely, Vernon "Lynn" Redden, Superintendent
"of that certain Voluntary Separation Agreement" get exposed as an overpaid racist, get more money, and retire? i'll reserve the classy label for actual class.
Yeah, it looks the board gave him some consideration to help induce him to resign. I don't have a big problem with it. I couldn't find the details of the Separation Agreement (though you would think it'd be public), but I don't think $110k to be a superintendent of a school district is overpaid.
It's a facade. One of my favorite quotes: “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” ~Maya Angelou He has already shown us who he really is.....let's believe him.
It was 117k I believe and for the size of his ISD it is imo. I won't apologize for it but I'm very sympathetic to our underpaid and overworked teachers who have more of an impact.
At least he made no excuses for what he said and didn't try to make himself a martyr when he resigned.
I didn't say anything about who he was, neither when he said something racist nor when he said something classy.
I'm aware of what you said. I simply pointed out that it is a facade. I tend to call a spade a spade.
