    Oh my God.

The risk for children is far less. Of course it is. What about their middle aged teachers and parents. Or the younger parents, who are the more silent carriers.

Can't let the science get in the way of that.

And yes, we ARE the outliers in the Western World. No plan. Terrible numbers. A wannabe dictator. No leadership. There's not many countries like that in the Western World.

science should not stand in the way and is on their side because the risk for children of developing critical illness due to Covid-19 is less than the seasonal flu...no mention of the risk for teachers and other workers, but oh well

this situation has been a disaster for the Trump admin so far, we’ll see how this works out for them...

their science also tells them that Florida is doing just fine, in-person rallies are ok, Covid-19 is overblown, and things are not that bad, we just test too much making things look worse than they actually are

“If there’s a short-term flare-up for a few days, that’s a different situation than planning for an entire school year in anticipation for something that hasn’t happened,” she told CNN host Dana Bash. “Kids have got to be back at school, they’ve got to be back in the classroom. Working families have got to have their kids back in school.”

    Is Deacon Blues the media?

I agree with the sentiment but I don't think "The Media" said this.

Oh, yeah I'm over that. I expect to be disappointed in everything she does, so I'm never surprised.

Thought we were talking about the Press Secretary at the point of my post. What she said is pretty indefensible.

She does have a long term plan. She is all about moving fund from public to charter schools. She probably sees this covid19 crisis and trump demand for school opening as an opportunity to further execute on that plan.

Yeah I've heard the virus doesn't infect charter schools.

Let's not give Acting Secretary Prince Devos too much credit, I don't doubt her tendency to shovel money and favors to rich partisans like for profit education scammers and student loans collection vampires exists in the same way an amoeba seeks out various nutrients based on chemical signals..

...but.a nefarious plan to destroy public education is beyond her skillset, which was to be born and marry rich... and her Ph D M.Ed in Education BA in Business from Calvin College and her long school teaching/adminstration career the 10 yachts her family owns

Given that we are an outlier in terms of high infection rate, at least in many communities around the country, even if the probability for a child to get infected form a specific contact is less, this smaller chance may still be offset by the higher # of infected people a child can come in contact with in a day.

It seems the discussion is schools and masks not total lockdown.

I don’t think anyone in this administration is smart enough to have a master plan.

Although I do think trump initially Just wanted to start Trump TV, then people hated hilary more than he realized.

Yeah but it seems I'm in the mood to be the kind of guy that likes to take a fragmented non sequitur from a larger whole and then just fixate on it repeatedly to carve out some small oasis of self reassurance while the desertification of my position encroaches around me, so you have no choice but to go with it here.

Thats in the TOS. Worst outbreak in the world. Due to millions of people just pretending like we ain't in a pandemic.

To fit 20 desks in a classroom with social distancing, plus a teacher in front, you need the room to be 24' x 24'. Good luck with that.

I figured it out, because I'm scheduled to teach 3 classes of students in a row in a windowless classroom. When one class files out, in comes the next. The desks will not be wiped down between classes. The air is not fresh. This is all a charade.

(Rich people aren't worrying about the public schools.)
