They should just go ahead and change the name. The Astros were an NL team. Let the AL team start over with a new name and a new history, kind of like how the the Ravens relinquished all of the Browns history and started anew even though it was the same franchise.
Selig has been screwing over the Astros and baseball in general for over a decade now. What else is new?
It's not only WHAT Selig has been doing... But the bald faced unapologetic manner..... used to blow me away. The obvious conflict of interest which has been flaunted for so long.
If Crane doesn't find a way to land Andrew Friedman or Gerry Hunsicker, there is no way I'm entrusting Wade to field a competitive $60 million AL payroll. I don't know if I can even cheer for the current product. Sad.
Despite all the "Houston is cursed and/or Houston has the deck stacked against it" thoughts and memories, I've always had a small voice telling me, realistically and rationally (or so I've always thought), that "Hey, it's just bad luck. No one is actually, truly out to screw Houston." Then....Bud Adams and the Dome's scoreboard....Nolan from the Stros to that damn team in Dallas....Nolan in the Hall wearing the cap of that damn team from Dallas....The Nolan Ryan Expressway existing in ******* Dallas....The whole SWC-to-Big 12 dissolution that got UH the shaft....Bud Adams taking away the Oilers....Bud Adams ensuring the history, name, and colors are never seen in Houston again....the whole continuing Rockets vs MJ/Bulls disrespect....Michael Finley coming from approx 5 miles out of bounds to "steal" that pass that so deflated the Rockets against that damn team from Dallas....the ref scandal where whats-his-name said that that game in particular was fixed....a broken foot for our NBA team and a broken foot for our NFL team....and now....this. Somebody....hell, maybe it's god....but somebody has it out for us....or just hates us. Sure as hell feels like that, anyway. I love my city's teams, but right now....I'm really hating being a sports fan. Ugh. F*** you, Bud Selig.
Someone should start up Occupy the Astros. And on opening night, instead of going inside MMP we protest outside. They are thinking right now that you, the fan, will get over it. That you, the fan, will fall in line and show up at the turnstiles. Their arrogance is annoying. Show them up and shut them up.
