The GOP has very far to go to encroach on that territory. Check the track record -- there have been many minorities in leadership positions over the past 8 years. The proof is in the pudding. Meanwhile, the libs just take minorities for granted.

The record is clear. It has been pointed out who was put in the Justice department as the head of civil rights. The Republicans' dedication to the issue has been noted.
I saw some of that. And that is certainly disappointing. But there really are idiots and ignorant people everywhere in this country (and the world) of all different political ideologies. I'm not sure what the point of that documentary was except to make it clear that the group included people from the south that didn't vote for Obama.
I bet Steele resigns for family reasons within the year... he's making a clown of himself and there will be pushback. We have Obama trying his best to be inclusive and looking for bipartisan solutions and then we have Steele threatening to mount challenges against Republicans who stray from the party line and specifically targeting Specter because of his stimulus vote. We have a black President talking to the country about issues of great import... and doing it in a way that respects the intelligence of all Americans... and we have Steele rapping old school to a convention of wackos more resembling a cult than a national political party.

On Bobby Jindal's Republican response to President Obama's speech: Curtis Sliwa: Now, using a little bit of that street terminology, are you giving him any Slum love, Michael? Michael Steele: (laughter) Curtis Sliwa: Because he is -- when guys look at him and young women look at him -- they say oh, that's the slumdog millionaire, governor. So, give me some slum love. He's really turned around on some core principles -- like hey, government ought not be corrupt. The good stuff...the easy stuff. So, what I would do is -- because he comes from Chi-town, Chicago which is now the murder capital of America, unfortunately -- the homicide capital. But, where we're talking to - Baltimore, DC -- they've had enormous problems. I would be handing out bullet proof body condoms so that a person could actually slip into this bullet proof body condom -- don't have to worry about STDs, drive-by's bullets lead poisoning.
