I think you might be confusing the whole Brady Aiken situation where the media actually did ridicule the Astros but turned out the Astros were right all along. I don't remember them throwing shade on the Astros for taking Correa, especially since it led to McCullers. It was said then they would be the cornerstone of the Astros in a few years. Who should be ridiculed is the Dodgers for allowing the Astros to have Yordan Alvarez.
His current stats at the major league level projected out the rest of the year, do project out to 33 HRs and 105 RBI. BUT, that assumes he plays the remaining 60 games, which he won't. And, he can't keep up this pace....can he? It seems implausible.
I just grabbed those projections off of stupid espn and didn't think or look deeper, I guess they're using ABs or games played per 162 or something? Those are worthless, it was late. from B-R, his 162 game totals would be 54 2B, 59 HR, 189 RBI, 81 BB, 194 K. I like those stats better.
And with all those strike outs, he won't hit into many DPs. It was nice to see him line that outside pitch to left field last night.
27 GIDP. Do they count lineouts? He smoked that ball, yep. He's started expanding his zone a bit, but how the hell can you complain? He's just a baby going through growing pains, imagine when he hits baseball puberty.
Once he consistently lays off that unhittable low and away pitch, and starts lining the hittable version of that into left field, he'll be unstoppable. Not complaining at all. It will be fun to watch his evolution.
But seriously, at RR he hit a lot of balls on a rope to LF that were in the zone but down and away (did it in ST too, that's when I started getting interested), anything middle/up and away he crushed for extra bases.
I do remember some had questioned Houston going Correa but to be fair, I felt like Houston was questioned on a lot things during the rebuilding. But man did the media come down on them when it came to Aiken. That was rough. I felt they should have gone with Bryant over Appel during the other draft but I don't think Bregman would be here though.
Nowhere in mikol's or my post was anything said about it sticking or not sticking "with his teammates." I was referring to it not sticking in a more public sense. Assassin (paid murderer) doesn't really play well with the Astros typically conservative fanbase. You probably already knew this, and you were just taking advantage of an opportunity to reinforce your 'douche' persona.
