Wnes as I am not a real Cheetah ~ SamFisher is not really a secret covert agent. As for the MFW [Mavs Fan Worldwide] quote I would love to see a link.
Well Sammy, have you bullsh1ted so many times that you've forgotten yourself? The very discussion came in IIRC, the Yakusuni shrine visit and the subsequent Chinese protest (actually protests occurred all over Eastern Asia, not that I'd expected Americans to point that out when they can single out the Chinese) thread. In that very thread, I noted that for all his faults, I considered Zhang Xueliang to be a patriot, where you remarked "fight the Japanese, fine, not with my army" with regards to him. When subsequently asked about your knowledge of China and the Chinese, you noted yourself as Zhang Zuolin's driver. My search function is disabled. Let's have wnes or one of your chosen arbitrators to do a search, shall we? Of course, the above is totally irrelevant to the current discussion. Let me ask you in the simplest terms possible: are there blacks in China. Yes or no. Funny how despite your "unshakable arguments," you've never failed, in any thread, to dodge such a simple question.
You know what the funny thing is, Cheetah? If I wanted to make a wise-crack at you, or Americans in general, I'd be far more successful at it. So far I have restrained from doing so. Nobody has ever out-debated me on this board without running to the mods like a crybaby. Take that as a hint.
LOL....Someone has a little ego! Actually, if you wouldn't mind, would you list 5 or more stereotypical American jokes? I'm born American and am just curious to hear some. No insult will be slanged back towards you or taken personal. I've just never heard anything good that i can recall.
When I say the Han culture, I'm liking it to the term "American" culture. You can make the same argument about people from New York, Texas, Alabama and California having different culture, but as divided as this nation has become, those cultures are still in some ways American. As for my posts, they are without purpose but stating what I believe to be facts (though since it's what I believe I'm sure some of it is jaded in some ways to be from my experience). Perception is a funny thing, I think there are truths in both what you and Sam says, but it's change by perspective. I'm mere trying to interject a somewhat more middle of the road perspective.
KingCheetah - please contact me privately offline via the prearranged signal system, I have a feeling that my paramilitary activities are being way too exposed and this thread is rapidly becoming counterproductive to my aims! Arms smuggling was never so complicated back in the old days! Supporting islamist separatists, too difficult it is I tell you! Oy vey!
This whole back and forth about diversity in China is bullsh*t. Bigotry and racism can and will be discovered in probably every nation on this planet. However, it seems that this "debate" started when certain proud Amurikans here wanted to manipulate this issue to assert their devout belief in American Moral Exceptionalism (i.e. "we're more racially diverse and tolerant than you, and hence morally superior.")--rather than being motivated by some supposed concern for racial tolerance. But that's typical of American arrogance and hypocrisy, especially given the tradition of White supremacy as the basis of the USA from the past (Indian genocide, Jim Crow Apartheid, Black slavery) to the present, as seen by the American nationalist enmity targeted against Muslims/Arabs, Latinos, and Asian people today.
redgoose... believe me when I say this. I don't make a habit out of insulting when it isn't necessary to do so. I find stereotypical jokes tasteless. Which is why I've made it known to KingCheetah that I've restrained from responding to his actions. Because there are insults, and then there is humiliation... As for little ego, not really. It's merely the fact that I don't open my mouth unless I know what I'm talking about. That's so underrated nowadays. Hence, when I find a poster whom I respect (Ottomoton, let's say), and we just happen to disagree, it usually merely a divergence of opinion instead me or him being wrong. Lil' Sammy Fisher on the other hand, is compeletely different, and this thread is the perfect example: I start from stating that there are black folks in China, i.e. I've started from a position that I can't possibly be wrong. He decided to respond. Now he looks like an idiot. Humiliation. I don't just tell him that he's an idiot. Anybody can do that. I prove that he's an idiot. Far from it. While there are certainly differences from New York to Texas to Alabama, etc. The differences are skin deep. The US isn't called a melting pot for nothing. For the most part the US IS a homogeneous culture. This isn't a yes/no answer. It's a comparative answer. While the US may not be homogeneous versus "Han" culture, it may be compared to, say... Japanese culture. To a small extend, I agree with what you say, but I don't think you appreciate the diversity and strong regionalism of the Hans. Any less so the country probably would have been homogeneous hundreds of years ago.
The longer the uncertainty stretches on, the less you can blame the situation on anyone else but Yi. Herb Kohl, the Bucks owner, wrote a letter to Yi requesting a meeting. At this point, I think it's safe to say Yi doesn't want to play in Milwaukee and the situation is still fluid. If there is a misunderstanding about his stand, Yi has had plenty of time to straighten things out, and he hasn't. Quit blaming the CBA, quit blaming Yi's representation. Unless he is some naive child being led around by the hand, it's on Yi and nobody else. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2922968 DALLAS -- Yi Jianlian had 15 points and eight rebounds, three days after being drafted with the No. 6 pick by the Milwaukee Bucks, in China's 91-75 loss to the United States' 19-and-under national team Sunday. Yi scored 11 points in the fourth quarter after the U.S. team had stretched its lead to 20 points. He had practiced just one day with the Chinese national team and struggled early after coming off the bench. He played 23 minutes, going 3-of-8 from the field and 8-of-12 on free throws. "In the beginning, it was difficult for him to find his position on the court," China coach Jonas Kazlauskas said. "In the fourth quarter, he was much better." When asked if he'd had any contact with the Bucks, Yi said, "I don't want to talk about that." Sun Yue, taken in the second round by the Los Angeles Lakers, came off the bench for China, scoring two points in 13 minutes. Zhu Fangyu led China with 20 points. The U.S. team, made up of players entering their freshman or sophomore seasons in college, made 11 of 24 3-pointers and led throughout the game. Tajuan Porter of Oregon was 5-of-7 on 3-pointers and led the Americans with 20 points. China will play another exhibition Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks' summer league team. Kohl spoke with Today's TMJ4 on Saturday and admitted that the team's selection of Yi was "risky." But Kohl added that he believes once Yi gets to know Wisconsin and realizes that Chicago is not far, he will think more favorably about playing with the Bucks. Yi's handlers and representatives were not pleased when Milwaukee drafted their client, preferring instead that he went to a much bigger city with a large Asian population. Click on VIDEO for Kohl's comments.
Stern should give Milwaukee the 6th pick in next years draft along with the pick they will receive next yr (2 lottos most likely) and ban Yi from the NBA for 10 years.
This Yi dude seems to be coming off as an Anti-Yao. Selfish, me-first-spoiled-punk, with a nice big ego.
Should David Stern have banned Steve Francis for 10 years? The only difference is that in this case Nike is involved, while Steve Francis was just being a spoiled brat, which is arguably worse.
Poor Yi, he is being made to look like a petulant child by his unscrupulous American agents. I bet old Yi would LOVE to go to Milwaukee and eat some brats, if only his managers would let him.
shrug I dont see the problem with him forcing a trade. Franchise did the same thing and I was absolutely ecstatic when we got him.
He'll be celebrated as a hero whenever he ends up in a new city. They'll be thankful for Li refusing to play in Milwaukee. He'll still get his Nike and phone contracts and draw in the chinese fans and media attention. He'll just have to get used to being booed everytime he plays in Milwaukee. I just hope he doesn't end up in Seattle or Portland.....Yikes!
if anything, this makes me cherish what a quality person Yao Ming is... I know I have trashed him badly after the heartbreaking loss. But he would understand, would he?
