Remember when Yao first started in the NBA, they said that the reason he wasn't aggressive and didn't dunk as often was because of the Chinese culture. Has this thinking changed since Yao is finally dominating in the NBA. The video had a lot of strong dunks from the kid and looked very aggressive compared to Yao in his early years in the CBA.

He certainly is more aggressive in those clips than the ones of him in previous years. When he had NO moves at all to speak of, just floated up and over people with little awareness. His feel for getting off his shots looks better as well. Elton Brand and Amare don't have any real moves either but have good strength, explosiveness off the ground and aggressiveness to the rim. Yi's isnt on par with that yet but not bad... Dirk puts the ball on the floor better and can hit the 3 point shot, not sure if Yi can do that. If Yi's 7'0 then he'll probably be a center anyway...

He does show a decent shooting stroke and has a bit of range, which is a plus for big men... Need to see some defense, some shot blocking and some rebounding instead of dunk clips. Just off his athleticism for his height and shooting touch he can be a mid to lower 1st round pick on potential.

Yi's game reminds me of a mix between Garnett and Nowitzki.

Yao was joking when he made that statement. The culture doesn't discourage you from dunking.

Impressive indeed. Is it possible for us to land him with our late first rounder next year (assuming no injuries, hope this dont jinx us)? Havn't heard much hype about him here yet.

I saw quite a bit of him with the Chinese National Team last year in Qatar. He reminds me of Stromile Swift a lot.

He looks like a better partner for Yao in the front court than Wang Zhi Zhi.

Yi's game reminds me of a mix of a Swift and Stromil. Look the guy only got a couple of dunks to show for, he can't do nada against mild competitive euros.

He is much more inferior to Wang Zhizhi (who can't make any NBA team, a former second rounder), and you compare him to Dirk and KG? Give it a rest please.

After watching most of that clip, he didn't do anything that really impressed me. And most of his dunks were fairly conventional.

Looks good. Do ROX need to take him in 2007 draft?
It is possible if he can be stronger.

I have a feeling teams are gonna shy away from him, and he'll eventually drop to the 2nd round.

The WBC really isn't the best place to judge his talents. The guy gets like 7 shots a game with Yao and Wang in the game. How much can you show with 7 shots?

i dont care what everyone says
I dont find 7'1" guy moving like that in NCAA. Most of the 6'10" and taller guys who come out of the draft are = tall stiffs, heavy & burky, or 3 point shooting slow centers.
