That's a very large if, given the incredibly negative state they are about to throw their franchise into for the next two years - Jay-Z isn't the real owner anyway, if Ratner can't get his project done then they are f-kd.

So the Nets are willing to suck for 2 more years to just have a shot at LeBron? I realize he's friends with Jay-Z, but he's also from Ohio, so I think it's gonna take a lot for LeBron to bail on Cleveland.

you don't think Yi is soft?

what is he then? the next Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett?
    the next Rasheed Wallace?

Yi is not soft as butter, he's softer than cool whip.

    If the Nets can field

    Devin Harris/Darrell Armstrong at Guard
Vince Carter/Lebron James SG or SF
    Yi Jianlian PF
    Boki Nachbar Off the bench
and some big stiff in the middle named Diop or Krstic

They will be very tough to beat in the East.

Yi's camp has definitely won out on this episode. Yi played well in the 1st half of the season to show that he could be real good down the road. And then ,all in a sudden, he got an injury which could keep himself fresh for the Olympics on the one hand and forced the Bucks to trade him to a big market team on the other hand. I think the whole first season has worked out great for Yi and his 'advisors'. They got what they wanted all along to get Yi play in a major market with playing time (just take a look at the Net's roster and you know Yi will be their starting PF) and they can also afford to make themselves the 'victim' here because it is the Bucks which (forced to) trade him.

Isn't that the point? Failing 2 yrs to get good lottery picks. As an owner, you better hope that's exactly what will happen. A lottery picks can also get you veteran players in exchange.

They pretty much got RJ for last year's #6 pick. That's pretty good if you ask me.

That isn't as appealing as the deal they got. Kiki Vandeweghe is incredibly high on Yi. But more importantly, China is very important to Lebron, who wants to be the first billionaire athlete. Every move New Jersey is making they are making so they will be more appealing to Lebron in 2010. Carl Landry wouldn't do that.

Remember they will be the Brooklyn Nets very soon. You know how packed MSG is everytime Yao plays there even when the Knick are terrible.

I'm sure season tickets for the Nets will increase dramatically.

There are a lot of Asians in NY and NJ.

I think this is another reason why I don't care for morey. The Bucks give up 2 scrubs and get a all star and the rox do nothing.

I'm thinking in that case Lebron will just go ahead and settle for being second.

Yup. No way LeBron gets close to Woods anytime soon. And I think the trade is good for Milwaukee. Yi was overrated anyway. He's like 25, I dont care what he says, and still has to develop? Yao at 22 had to adjust, but Yi hasnt impressed the way people thought he would imo.

Garbage posts like these are just trolling. "He sucks" "He's a scrub" "He's Soft". Wow, how creative and ignorant.

The guy is in his first NBA season and his rookie year. Had some great games showing his potential and also had some bad games. The kid will learn.

That leebigez guy is one of the biggest Yao trolling on this board.

This is a bit gamble on the Nets part right now, but if Yi turns out to be a stud, they will get the last laugh. For now, all they are getting is the fan base and marketing power Yi carries.
