Except that Yi is the surname so if he did have an Americanized name, it would be George Yi.

His defence is very questionable. That is the major question mark on him. He needs to have a good showing in one of the training camps on the defensive end.

Anyone catch Bill Simmon's column about Yi in the latest issue of ESPN Magazine? He said his dad didn't know much about him so he did a YouTube search and showed his dad the highlights. His dad was impressed initially, but after awhile realized the guy is never show shooting jumpers.

By the end his dad said all he could do was run, jump and dunk...calling him the Chinese version of Stromile Swift. Ouch.

Wow, Simmon's father said that!?!?! Stop the presses, are you listening NBA scouts? Simmon's FATHER thinks Yi is like Swift!

    BTW, my mailman likes hotdogs.

If you mean the guy as shown in this photo, he is Yi Jianlian's father.

Du Feng never took part in any of Yi's workout. He's still recuperating from his injury.

I wonder if you have any clips of him in the CBA final this year against Wang Zhizhi, espcially how he guarded Wang...

why you be so rude? That's the exact same guy, except his name was George Jianlian, it was on a plane, he was wearing a suit, he was shorter, he was korean, looked different, had white hair, was 24 years old, about 40 lbs heavier, and had long hair. Exactly the same. He was also an inside joke that only members of old school clutch city would get.

he got outplayed by Wang in the series. more importantly he got embarrassed time and again when he tried to post up Wang or Mo Ke another 6'10 dude in bayi frontline. this is Wang we're talking about who would foul out in 5 mins in an NBA game if he tried to play any defence in the low post. think about Steve Novak.

That's the exact reason I want to see some clips like those with my own eyes. IMO, that's more telling than highlights...

Next you should explain to the newbies why Kobe only ate the first 5 hotdogs but not the 6th hotdog. :D
