so youre saying saying african players are not some of the best in the world. if i recall in the 90's george weah of liberia won the wpoy award. there are guys like eto'o, okocha and essien who are considered some of the top players in the world. in italia 90, cameroon did quite well, in usa 94, nigeria did quite well, in france 98, nigeria did well again but lost in the round of 16 to the danes. yeah no african team has made it to the semifinals of a wc but that doesnt mean they havent done well. compared to the asian teams, only south korea have performed better and that was because the wc was in their backyard. so like i said, the best african nations arent even in the wc and yet ghana still smacked the czechs around.

I'm not saying they don't have great players because they do. However you were able to mention 1 african team every worldcup that did well. That is not much, i agree that african teams in general are better then asian teams. But they are not better then south american and european teams.

Saying the best african teams are not even here is not a good argument IMHO, because this way you can always say, well ok the african team all lost in the first round, but the best were not playing. If the top players do not want to play for those teams and they do not qualify then the TEAMS are just not good enough.

I do not say that african teams are bad, i just say that they are not ass good in general as south american and european teams. So claiming that if in the us the african american start to join they will much better is IMHO not a correct assumption.

Ofcourse getting more people involved in any sports will make the quality of the game better.

It was amazing to see Ghana beat the Czechs, almost every world cup there is one african team that surprises everybody(most people though that it would be Ivory coast, but luuckily it was not:D).

Lets not dismiss the achievement of reaching the semifinals just because 'it was in their backyard'. top 4 is still top 4. there is a country that plays 'in their backyard' in every world cup. They tend to do better but they dont ALL reach the semi-finals
