    I Agree,

Of course if you take a "ESPN Sportsnation Poll" You're going to get that kind of results  .. Tiger is BIG, But he's just a normal fish in the pond.

Ronaldinho(the best player alive) with his Brazilian votes can easily cancel out Lebron's US votes.. Then lets ask the REST OF THE WORLD.

I played soccer untill i was 17(i was a keeper). Then i started playing basketbal. The funny thing was that on my basketbal team, the two people with the best endurance were soccer players(or atleast like me, stopped playing soccer 1 or 2 years ago).

Thats a very good point. Soccer starts 11 players and not 5. They also have another 12 on the bench. These are just the players that show up to the game. Each team have dozens more under contract

I agree. Many countries SHUTDOWN for the world cup. I was in France in 98 during the world cup. Europe COMPETELY SHUTDOWN. Every game was a SUPERBOWL. Think Superbowl TRiple headers everyday. During the world cup in korea 2002 The entire Country SHUTDOWN. Crowds of literally millions of people wearing red shirts(I believe 4 million in one particular street gathering) in the streets of Korea watching the game on large Screens. Every game was a SUPERBOWL.

go to youtube.com and just check out the latest Korea game. Korea vs Togo and you will see Chaos. STADIUMS used in the last world cup were JAM packed with people WATCHING the game on the screen. CRAZY. You will see seas of people in red in streets packing the streets. Even here in the US, the Staples Center in LA was rented out and packed by Koreans to watch the game on a TV SCREEN. CRAZY

And I'm just talking about Korea here. This happens all over the world.

I just looked at some more youtube.com videos. It is unbelievably amazing. If this gwayneco guy talks about Americans being indifferent to the World Cup, then this is the complete opposite. The ENTIRE country literally shutdown. You have to browse through some of the videos. Simply Amazing.

I wish we had something like that, where we basically shut down, and can watch it somewhere.

I remember opening day, me and a few coworkers were outside of the building, on the plaza watching on a portable television.

But now we just watch it on our computers, which kinda sucks because it takes away from the fun of watching it together.

Last October, they had some screens out there for the World Series.

You know what would be cool? Say if the Rockets were to be in the finals, they could have some type of viewing at that park they are building.

Imagine watching the Rockets on a big ass screen in the park at night in the middle of June. That would be cool.

You should see the netherlands if we play a game, there is nobody on the street, every bar is Full, and i mean really full you cannot sit anymore, there are screens everywere in every bar, shop and on a lot of streets.
I think that if a country would want to invade us, that would be the best time, because i think the soldiers would not react untill after the game. And this is the case in most countries.

Koreans are very fond of Dutch soccer. In fact, Guus Hiddink is a national hero! Many say if he ran for President, he would probably get it. Our current coach Dick Advocaat just led Korea to their first WC victory on European soil. :D :D

    I love soccer. Go Germany!

Best games to watch - any game at night where about 20,000 fans light these huge flares in the stands. It's nuts - totally unreal. The smoke negates much of the stadium lighting so the players are basically playing by flare light - incredible. Great picture of that in the latest national geographic, of all places.

No salary caps. That's why Real Madrid could buy anyone and at one point had all the major stars, including Ronaldo, Zizu (Zidane), Roberto Carlos, and Beckham. Dang, we could only afford Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Navia, Kleber, and "El Piojo" in CD America in MEXICO.

    Thanks, KAMster.

    wow.

you're completely, 100% wrong with those comments. American athletes DOMINATE the worlds richest athletes list. and Beckham is probably still the biggest soccer "star" out there in terms of endorsements and popularity worldwide.

    seriously.

If you say are stating that blacks are superior in athletics, then why does no African nation have a sportman's chance at any World Cup. They are consistently in the middle of the barrel.

American blacks are generally good at American sports, like say football or basketball. The Americans aren't even the best in the world in baseball. So its kind of presumptious to say that American blacks would be the best in the world in any sport if they just played.

erm, no african nation bar ivory coast had a sportsmans chance because all the best african nations did not qualify. their star players picked and chose what qualifying matches to show up to cos they all had big heads and thought their teams would qualify no matter what. In the end, their teams dropped some points and they did not qualify. Soccer fans know the best three teams in africa- Nigeria, Cameroon and Senegal did not qualify and if they did they woulda done a heck of a lot better. but thats how it is in the wc, every year a couple of big teams miss out. in 94 england, portugal and france missed out. in 98-portugal and sweden missed out. in 02- holland and norway missed out. even now, the reigning european champs missed out. thats just the way it is.

It is presumptuos to say american blacks would be the best but dont discount the fact that the bruvs from africa are some of the best, most entertaining and most gifted players in the world.

I have to disagree with your last point, The african teams never do well on the WC. So saying that African players are one of the best in the world is just not true. There are some amazing players from africa, but even more from South amarica and europe.
