It took Kobe 5 - 6 years to become great and you clowns are ready to give up on Jalen after 3. Talk about a microwave league.

You ALWAYS go off of what you saw last and I think he is going to be an All-Star. He showed it on both ends of the floor against Playoff and Non-Playoff teams and most importantly, he did it when it mattered, in the 4th qtrs.

No it did not....Kobe was 19.9 in year 3, and 22.5 in year 3 and 4.......on much more efficient scoring...

You are doing him a disservice comparing Jalen to Kobe, he will NEVER be that good. He doesn't have that lead dog mentality, he is a happy to be there guy.

Kobe had more win shares in his second season in the league than Jalen has in his 3 year career total.

    It is an interesting comparison.

These are their third seasons compared (Kobe was one year younger than Jalen in his third season).

    upload_2024-7-4_15-7-2.png

I had forgotten how bad Kobe was as a 3-point shooter in several seasons.

I think the biggest difference is that Kobe was actually a good defender, so even though he wasn't the most efficient guy offensively during several of his seasons, he was just a better overall player. Also, he had that famous mamba mentality.

But Kobe could never win a title without a great big man like Shaq or Gasol.

IF Jalen can take it to that next level and IF Jalen can become a much better defender and IF Jalen can become consistent, then maybe he still has a chance to be a contributor to a championship team.

Let's see what happens next season.

I chose the closest option; the only one to use the word bust.
However I need an option that says, 'Completely out on him. No more time to turn it around. Trade now.'

The front office have done a great job rebuilding all things considered. I really think we are on the right track. However that initial draft...wel let's just say thank god we took Sengun or it would not look good in the history books.
We blew the number 2 pick but we have drafted really well every year since. The future is bright.

Yeah it was a much different era back then, standards have definitely increased since then.

What's funny is that Kobe was always something of a chucker which is why he was never close to being on Jordan's level... but he was far above Westbrook who was the next generation of chucker.... and Westbrook was far above Jalen who is the current generation's mindless chucker.

Of course that's just offense, when you look at defense it's just another area where the comparison is laughable.

This is year 2 under Ime for him. If he can show as much improvement as he did in year 1 under Ime then he will have a strong season.

I didn't compare. My point was to give him time to become better. We already know that he can but yet and still after just 3 dam years y'all are ready to move on to another shiny new object. Like a bunch of mindless lemmings.

Different time, different league, 2 completely different coaching styles. Stop cherry picking.

Jalen has the talent but the IQ isn’t there. I’ve seen him come down the court in several games and drive into the same double team six times straight going right. This was on numerous occasions and it usually lead to turnovers or horrible shot selection. It also lead to him being subbed out for Aaron Holiday finishing out games. Let that sink in. I hope he figures it out for the benefit of the team, but I have a hard time visualizing it.

I'm always more optimistic about our players during the off season so right now I'm hopeful that Jalen finally puts it all together. Jalen actually being good is the best thing for the team. So I'm in the I don't know camp at the moment. But I imagine the team will have him on a really short leash. I think we'll find out pretty early if Jalen has grown any or not.

I wonder how long its going to take y'all to turn on Sheppard because he is not going to be what you all have built him up to be. At least not in his first 2-3 seasons.
