Well basketball players got to make their money while they can. Their careers are not life-long you know.

A daughter with cancer should take priority for a multi-millionaire -- life is short and cancer is unpredictable.

His priorities seemed out of wack when he played in the playoffs after appointments. I'm guessing it's his way of coping with the situation. He probably wanted to play ball closer to the city his daughter would be getting treatments. This way, he won't have to miss the 1st half all the time.

41 games in the same city as his daughter's medical treatments. he can spend way more time with his daughter, then just take a few minutes drive to the staples center. As opposed to leaving much earlier to catch a flight to Utah.

True. But I'm sure he took that into account when he decided to come back. If the cancer was terminal and she were to die within the next year, I'm sure he would have taken the year off.

By the way, I freakin hate the way Fisher plays. But he seems like a good man.

Which is contrary to 90% of a league filled with punks. (like JR Smith)

Dude, fisher went to LA cuz that's where his daughter's doctor was. And No, I would not boo if Battier had a sick family member in Boston, but still wanted to play ball. I wouldnt applaud it, but i'd totally understand. im sorry if you cant believe that

And if you were to pull that off, why would he go to the Jazz who clearly a better team to a team that might not have even started the season with Kobe?

Correct! Fisher signed with the Lakers that got bounced out of the 1st round for the 2nd straight year and with Kobe asking for a trade.. while the Jazz just went to the WCF!!!

Lakers in the beginning of the season were projected to be a 8th seed at best! and remember Kwame Brown still had the starting job with the Lakers.

I followed the Lakers fairly closely during their Kobe-Shaq years. Let me tell you something: Fisher is ALL CLASS.

During all the Kobe and Shaq battles, Fisher and Horry were the glue that held the team together. Fisher was a great locker room and community guy. You never hear about him getting DUIs or blowing off practice or bad mouthing a teammate.

I know he flops a lot and that could be maddening for the other team's fans. However, he also takes a ton of legitimate charges, so you got to respect his willingness to sacrifice his body for defense.

What hypocrites the Jazz fans are. They embrace Boozer. Think he's wonderful. Fan-tastic! Yet this is the same Boozer who shafted Cleveland. Who did the same thing Fish is accused of, but without the redeeming reasons.

    In my opinion, they suck.

There's nothing fake about Battier bleeding after a "flop". He doesn't shy away from contact, but he definitely doesn't fling himself 10 feet back after being pushed (see Fisher in today's game).

That was no where near my point of that post. But let's not kid ourselves, Battier flops. But his flopping is to bring attention to the contact, instead of making up the contact from imagination. This thread is about how classless the Utah basketball culture is.

I know, but I just had to say it. By the way, Utah isn't a real place. :)

He shouldn't be playing now if he really wanted to be there 100% for his daughter. Fisher used the Jazz' 'good Samaritan' act of releasing him from his contract to go play for their arch enemy, the Lakers.

I am not condoning what Jazz fans did, but I really don't have much sympathy for Fisher in this situation either. I still feel like he used his daughter's illness to an extent as an excuse to get out of Utah, he just didn't want to be there at the end of the day. That's fine by me, I just don't think him playing for the Lakers and how demanding that job is with all the traveling and other commitments is conducive to him wanting to be there with his daughter every step of the way. I just think he wanted out of Utah, and I have a hard time blaming him for it.

Overall, I really don't care what happened, nothing changes the fact that he's a Laker now, Utah fans should get over it.

Fisher is not the only one who wanted to get out of Utah.

I believe Mark Jackson also had some negative stuff to say about the Jazz. He said he didn't like the way Sloan did things up there.

Makes you wonder what actually goes on behind closed doors in Salt lake City...

Just to let you know out of all the cities in America, I would say Boston has the BEST medical centers. It does have all the Harvard affiliated hospitals such as Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham, Beth Israel, Dana Farber Cancer Center etc etc, which are widely considered the top hospitals in the country. Although Houston with MD Anderson and NYC with Memorial Sloan Kettering are probably the top two cancer centers in the country.

Incidentally, I heard during today's game that his daughter was getting treated at Sloan Kettering in NYC first, so I suppose if he really wanted to go to where the expert doctors were he would have gone to NYC. Of course I understand that he has family in LA and is more comfortable there. While I don't begrudge him for the choices he made, the timing is a bit interesting. He couldn't have waited a bit or taken a year off? But hey he should do what he thinks is right for his family. Nothing wrong with that. And if he did intentionally find a way to leave it is no less of a crime then what Boozer did in Cleveland.

This is a good point -- the Jazz released him thinking he was going to sit out and care for his daughter ... instead he signs a contract with a major Western Conference rival.

The fans shouldn't have boo'd him, but there is certainly reason to be frustrated with his decision to sign with a rival instead of taking time off for his daughter's care -- something the Jazz front office made possible.

When McGrady was leaving after the game i saw fans screaming slurs to his face and holding up signs making fun of his eye, whats more classless than that, your team just advanced and thats all you can do>?

Next season of survivor should be...

    Survivor Utah -Outwit, outlast, outplay.

That would be fun. 16 men/women would be in Utah for 30 days. Only the strong will survive.

Yes, they are known to scream racial slurs at players.. by far the most classless fan-base.

People seem to forget when he joined the Lakers, they were just some scrub 0.500 team that was knocked out of the 1st round 2 years running, and not even making the playoffs the season before.

It's not like he ditched Utah and went to the Suns, Spurs, Pistons, etc. Not many people predicted the Lakers would become a powerhouse (or the Gasol trade)

And its def not the money considering the paycut.

Anyway, the people who booed him are scum...regardless of whether they're from utah or not.
