The Groupies - It's from the 60's, Manhattan groupies discuss their exploits in an interview setting. It's a real time capsule, they debate the difference between American and British bands and talk very candidly about their adventures and mishaps.

Small's Paradise Grindin' - Dr. Auratheft. Available on the web if you search for the title, it's a tribute to Jazz Organist Jimmy Smith who died a year ago. A great mellow listen. It's first track is "Root Down", which Beastie Boys fans would recognize as the music behind their rhymes on a track of the same name from "Ill Communication". Dr. Auratheft has alot of world mixes that are worth the listen if you like different music, they can be found in the same place as "Small's".

Bob Marley & The Wailers Live At The Record Plant & Downtown Trenchtown - Two FM broadcasts of Marley when the Wailers first hit the states. Record Plant, performed live at a radio station in Sausalito in 73, is a studio worthy copy that has become my favorite album. They had been on tour most of the year ("Catch A Fire" & "Burnin" tours) and Marley and Tosh sound amazing together on this recording. DT is a live recording of a show in 75 in Chicago with the best versions of "Natty Dread" and "Trenchtown Rock" I have heard. Bob also interacts with the crowd quite a bit between songs.

D'oh. That would be Fly By Night.

My nights lately have been spent leveling up in Dragon Warrior and listening to classic rock lps. All I need now is some weed and some Cheetos.

From 5-6 AM this morning, I was cranking up the stereo and my guitar rig and wailing along to this CD:

PBS did a documentary a few years ago called "American Roots Music" The episode of Bluegrass was incredible, and had some great concert footage of them.

you like that CD? used to own, Ghostface talks about nothing, just rapid fire rhymes. and when I say he talks about nothing, I don't mean he doesn't say anything substantive, I mean his words mean nothing.

in my cd player right now (before i change it to look hip) there are two childrens cds, a holly cole (jazz) a james keelahan (folk) and some random christmas cd that i should really change. CD's tend to reside a while in our system.

i haven't been listening to it much.

On a side note....i have a new computer with a great speaker system and am looking for net radio stations. No death metal...and ideally few (if any) commercials. Kinda folk, accoustic guitar, jazz, eighties...well anything except metal and rap. Any suggestions?
