    moes,

The Matisyahu is great. I've only listened to it once all the way through, but I'm really digging it.

No, no, not that ethereal background music. It all sounds like it ought to be the soundtrack to a remake of 2001.

Aren't there any new bands out there making butt-rockin guitar music.
Urgent strumming, a wailing B-3, with a swagger, just a little pissed off.
I wanna pop on the cruise control and play air-guitar.

Don't make me revert back to the dinsosaurs of rock.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it crappy. The Darkness are just what they are. A comical rock n' roll band. Too many people poke at their lyrics, looks, falsetto, ect. Oh they sound like queen/acdc...blah blah blah.

Who cares. Sound-wise/production they blow any band out right now, away. (of course, with today's state of music, thats not saying too much). I'd rather listen to these guys 24/7 than having to deal with the likes of this new hipster music fad (the killers, ect). But to every man his own.

That said, they're not too good live. The first record was straight ahead wall of stacks, blow your nuts away sound. The second record they choose to use sitars, ect. To me it sounds a little over-produced. Lyrically, lets not kid ourselves, these guys aren't trying to be something their not. Their lyrics are silly and funny. 1st song is about snorting 'white powder', 2nd the chorus sings "i just love what you've done with your hair", while a leppard-esque riff plays in the background. Personally I think it's hilarious.

Zero Boys - "Vicious Circle" - If your a fan of r n' r punk, this should be an essential. Undoubtly one of the best hardcore punk albums of the 80's (released in 1982). This album will blow your ass away. Calling all germs fans.

Badfinger. Wow. These guys if they stayed together...2 members comitted suicide. Their manager also stole money and basically ruined them. They were initially signed to the beatles apple label. Adored by the beatles, which kind of stained them. But Pete Ham's song writing in my opinion rivals the beatles in their song writing. Flame me all you want. Go pick up one of their albums. Start of with the best of. For those of you who are not familiar with this band, I urge you to pick up "No Dice". You might recognize
track #6 "Without you", I believe Mariah Carey and others covered this song. If your a fan of R n' R, powerpop, pick it up. NOW.

I'm sure someone else here has it. I collect bootlegs of live shows, Prince, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, Police, Ramones and several others. Of those, I have a special collection of shows performed in Houston. I was just lucky to get this one in flac format a few years ago. There is a DVD of it out there too.

Here's the problem. I recently got an i-pod, and I haven't been listening to CD's so much. Probably the one I have been listening to most, is Magnetic Fields 'i'.

I have also been listening to Lush a lot. And I can't forget to mention Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys.

Bloc Party, Interpol, and Wilco aren't ethereal background music.

Right now I am listening to Trans-Siberian Orchestra - The Lost Christmas Eve cd. Someone recommended that I listen to them...they sound pretty cool and I didnt know that Al Pitreli (former Megadeth guitarist) was one of the lead guitarists in TOS

Franz Ferdinand actually sound a lot like Edwin Collins' old band Orange Juice to me. I would think that any discussion of Interpol and musical influences would warrent a mention of Joy Division. They should pay them royalties.

Amazing soundtrack. (And I'm a soundtrack nut). Am I the only one that loves the "Krypton Theme?" I actually prefer that to the main Superman theme; it gives me goosebumps.

In fact, if I was the owner of an NBA team, I'd use the Krypon theme--or at least the first part of it--during player introductions. It's stirring. Epic.

I have just finished listening all the way through for the 2nd time, the latest Kate Bush album (her first in 12 years!) in "Aerial". It ALMOST overtakes "Silent Alarm" by Bloc Party as the best album of 2005 (in my opinion of course). This album is SO good; I think after a couple of more listens, it might replace "Hounds of Love" as my favorite Kate album; something I thought was not possible.

I did enjoy Hounds of Love. It was the only Kate Bush album I had though, or that I've heard. Maybe I will have to check the new one out. Since I haven't listened to any other albums has she been undergoing a steady evolution, or is the style on the new one, the same kind of thing?

    FB,

I think the style on "Aerial" is very close to that on "Hounds of Love". You may remember that on "Hounds of Love", she breaks the album up into 2 parts: songs that are not related to one another (such as "Running Up That Hill" and "Cloudbusting") and a concept suite about a woman who drowns and then is reborn ("Hello Earth", "Jig of Life", etc.). "Aerial"'s first 7 songs (or disc 1) are unrelated to one another and then the last 9 songs (disc 2) is a concept suite. If you liked "Hounds of Love", I would strongly recommend "Aerial" as well as "The Sensual World".
