Nope, though from Manny's description it sounds like I missed out.

I give the first one a 7 and the new one a 5.5, but it still has to grow on me. I like FF but I have always thought they were trying too hard to copy Interpol but I know many will disagree with me on that. :D ;)

Would you say you like them better than Godspeed and Mogwai? I actually do not have any Mogwai cds, I might get some, somtime soon.

Instrumentally, Mogwai and Godspeed are superior. I also think they are both better bands, but God is an Astronaut is a very good easy listen.

I've never thought FF has tried to be like Interpol. Interpol take themselves way too seriously. Interpol music is darker and more melancholy. FF, on the other hand always have a good time when they play. Both in concert and in their videos. Like FF said from the outset, they want "to make music that girls could dance to." I don't see that in Interpol, although I think Interpol is a better band, and it strikes me dumbfounded why they haven't found more commercial success.

If I would have to compare FF to anyone it would be Hot Hot Heat.

Ahh, it's been so long since wev'e had such a good thread in the BBS that I hardly know where to start.

Howsabout the Darkness..? I only know what I've seen and heard from the great propaganda machines and can't decide if I'm ready to embrace what I hope is tongue in cheek, or worship that which takes me back to my teen LZ, Queen days - but really don't think it is. Please advise further.

How can Thadeus appreciate Marquee Moon (as well it should be) and still cast aspersions towards Manifesto? Such is the tangled milieu we discriminators (nay, "elitists") find ourselves mired in.

Indeed, what goest on with one UT Wheezer? Is our man out there in NYC sleeping in vans and getting record deals and stealing the show at the Danceteria? Afterall, his band the Urgencies (New York Dolls wannabees that they are) are quite good and he DID take that leap of faith?

Said UT WEEZER heaps praise on the Zeroes' Vicious Circle. Dude knows his stuff. As well as he notices my dearest Badfinger (yummy) and THE DARKNESS??? What on Earth?

Does OOmp have a cd no one other of us has. The White Stripes Live at Rudyards 2001? What?

Is it just me or has Franz Ferdinand already used up their 30 secs? I hope so.

Why are the UK upstarts the Subways getting away with stealing the title of Rock n Roll Queen from Mott the Hoople?

Finally, my many thanks to mi amigo Manny who continues to beat the drum and forever does delve for the next Roxy Music all the while dragging us along with him.

Good to see City of Evil gaining popularity. Hell Bat Country is even #1 on trl somehow.

Yeah I guess i'm pretty much the a7x fanboy now. They are playing Cal Poly Rec Center on Feb 15th and me and my buddy are going. I can't friggin wait.

Some are calling them the new Metallica or Guns N Roses, They sound like a bit of each of those with some Pantera, System of a Down, and Iron Maiden thrown in there.

The vocals do take a bit getting used to because the lead singer had to have surgery to get his vocal chords repaired after screaming too much on their previous indie releases (Hence they dropped the screaming stuff, which is probably a good move.) The guitar playing is superb though, for those of you who aren't into the heavy stuff I'd check it out, for those of you who like the heavier metal I'd definatley check out Waking the Fallen which is also a damn good album.

Also, if you like ax7, you should try Mariah Carey.

    I'm a sucker for Natalie.

I am thinking of picking up her CD.

    She's that power dancer chick.

No ****? I had no idea. I just picked up Souvlaki and Just for a Day at Spun.com. I would've waited if I'd known that was going to happen . . . . just looked at amazon, and damn, they are expensive. That's the only thing I hate about slowdive, is that it's sort of hard to get their albums.

Machine Gun is awesome. I must've listed to this album at least 30, 40 times, and I just never get tired of it. There's just so much -- each time it sounds different. My favorite is "When the Sun Hits", but the whole thing is crazy-insane great.

Judging from the reviews, Darkness had the crappy sophomore realese, not FF. I'll still get their second though and judge for myself, because I really liked the first.
