Gillispie can out-recruit the heck out of Tubby. He doesn't get enough credit for his coaching wizardry though.

We have yet to see it here though Ziggy. Defensively I can see his system taking place on the court, but it has major flaws. Offensively, I've got nothing. Even last season I didn't see any offensive strategy other than, let Ramel and Crawford drive and kick or just shoot.

I need to see his wizardry before I can comment on it.

Last season he basically said, okay Joe and Ramel, go at it at the beginning of conference play, when they defensively did what he asked. So I can credit him for learning quickly about his personnel.

    Sigh, I am just frustrated.

Offensively he isn't dedicated to any one set. He is not a motion guy. He utilizes what he has. His wizardry comes off drawn up plays and game management. He did something crazy last season towards the end of a game. I forget what exactly. But it was masterful. I am sure you know better than I. I think he was spoiled by Law a little bit. I'd be frustrated too.

He tried to get a goal tend on a foul shot. In order to force a change of possession without time going off the clock.

But hopefully things can only get better from here.

Yeah outside of the year that Tubby rought in Rondo,Randolph Morris,Crawford as the 3 McDonalds All-Americans, and brought in Ramel that year he wasn't a good recruiter. I thought Kentucky would win a championship when we recruited all of them. Randolph Morris was a huge disappointment.

I'm willing to give Gillispie a chance to turn it around though. We had bright spots last year we are just too inconsistent.

I beg to differ. He got Tayshaun, Kelenna, Chuck, Bogans etc. All NBA players right now.

Tubby wasn't out for the "big names" he was recruiting guys that had high basketball IQ that could run his defensive system.

Last year was the only year, of pretty much my whole UK fandom, that I didn't think we had at least an outside chance at a championship. Even this year before these first two games I was thinking, well maybe the final four. Now I see that the lost of Jasper as well as Joe and Ramel is greater than I thought.

You know why Tubby recruited Randolph, because he was a big name. He was getting pressure from the "boosters" to get a highly touted recruit in. There was no time in his three years here that I thought Randolph wanted to be at UK. Nor did he want to run coach's system. Which is why Tubby was better off doing it his way.

    /end rant ;)

well the pac-10 season kicks off tonight and while the pac-10 isnt as strong as it was last year it still one of the tougher conferences in the nation (imo)

ucla starts out on the with the oregon school starting with oregon state tonight.

should be a good game. we'll see how the freshman react to hostile environments like these. I thought they were a bit shocked in Texas as collison pretty much everything. Hopefully they learnt from that and are ready to go tonight.

Incredible. How does a guy go from 8.8ppg in his Sophomore year to over 25ppg in his Junior year with only 10 extra minutes of playing time? Amazing!

Because with Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley it is basically his team along with Patrick Patterson. Also he was hurt most of the year last year, he's healthy and the results are wonderful.

Scotty Hopson should of stayed committed to Kentucky. :D

Patterson would be stupid not to come out after this year. This will be the weakest draft in some time (hence Morey traded all his picks away for this year), and Patterson should go in the top 10.
