Penders has brought UH back from the dead. In the 13yrs before he arrived they avg 10 wins a year with only 2 winning seasons during that stretch. Since Penders has been there his worst year was 18-15 and they lost in the CUSA title game to Memphis on their home floor in that game. Yet the natives are restless losing the first game to Ga Southern by 2 with 4 guys who had never started a college game. The Cougars play Western Kentucky tomorrow at 3pm so it should be an exciting day for me. I'm catching the football and basketball games tomorrow. Western Kentucky went to the Sweet 16 last year.

Penders likely assesses quickly those prospects that have zero interest in the program and does not waste time trying to change their minds. That is smart. You have to find the guys that have at least moderate interest and recruit the hell out of those guys.

They did not look at all prepared. They played VMI's game instead of taking advantage of Patrick Patterson. Which was really annoying.

We shall see how they bounce back.

Since I began attending UK, our basketball team has had a forgetful record. Good to see UK products (Prince, Hayes, Rondo, Bogans) doing well on the next level though.

Patience... BCG will re-establish the dominance. I agree though, UK is like the Skulls. They run everything.

Dude! So you're the reason why we stank! When I was there we went the Final Four three times and won two championships! ;)

But I have to say, I love the players who have come out since then more than I do the ones that were there when I was there (maybe because some of them were more than annoying)

Tay, Chuck, Daniels (who I think is in Europe somewhere), Buike, Bogans, Rajon, and PP when he leaves after this year (although they better start giving him the ball more or he's not going to be a top ten draft pick and should stay longer - he has the talent and maturity to get there by the end of the season if he works hard)

I personally would give Bill G. some time to turn the program around, but if UK fails to make any progress from last season, you know the fans will be screaming for his scalp.

Sigh, the good 'ole days of glory I have only read about or seen in video footage.

Patterson is certainly talented enough to be a lotto pick, though his performance so far suggests a less than desirable basketball IQ (I guess no one on the team has looked smart in the past year). There are also unsubstantial reports questioning his work ethic and his attitude. Either way, I would love to have him stay at least another year to help the program's rebuilding process.

Well they have said that he planned to stay four years in college, but if he can get a top ten draft Billy will be pushing him out the door. I'd like to see him stay and pass Orton the big man baton personally.

He has had some good showings and some bad showings. He needs to stay out of foul trouble and demand they set plays up and give him the freaking ball. But that's just as much Gillispie as it is Patrick.

It was just ugly Ziggy, just a complete meltdown part two, only this time on national television. They lead the NCAA with turnovers now I am sure... 25 in the first game 29 in the second.

    Our guards are just horrible.

but the sad thing is, I can't ever give up hope, they are my college team, there is no denying them when they are complete crap if I am to celebrate them when they are the best again - which will happen someday.

Goodness, Kentucky is hard to watch these days. So damn frustrating. With these whack guards Patterson will never become what he can become because they will just double him in the post.

Hopefully Billy G. can turn this **** around, he got 2 years to do it.

Ugh, Chase Budinger should've stayed in the draft.

Plus we just got another really good big man for next year in Daniel Orton, but without a guard that can get him the ball what good is that.

I am hoping that Liggins is better than he has shown so far.

Did you see any sort of offense out of them at all?? It was like total discombobulation out there.

I bet the fan base is losing patience. I noticed two TAMU former PGs on BCGs sideline. One of them left like NASA or IBM (I would think) to join his staff. Interesting.

The offense was pretty horrible. The only time we scored was when Jodie Meeks came down and shot a contested a shot. We didn't get many easy baskets. Patterson got a few easy baskets but we were down by double digits by then. I wish Billy G. could of worked things out with Alex Legion. Our problem is it is so easy to take out a big man in College Basketball if you don't have guards that will make them pay. Patterson doesn't even get up a lot of attempts. I'm sure he is a bit frustrated.

I don't follow recruiting much, do we have any good guards coming in next year?

What site do you go to for recruiting? I will start checking it out more.

I'm willing to give him two more years. Tubby didn't exactly leave him with a lot of talented players.
