My favorite part I don't know about the rest of you, but it seems to me that hiring five single guys (and musicians ) who aren't getting any action would actually pose a greater temptation to Ms. James. If she wants to be around people who aren't having sex, she should have hired married men .
Speaking as a musician who has played professionally and semi-professionally for over 20 years, I never knew there were as many as five single musicians on the planet who were committed to abstaining from pre-marital sex. I guess I have been playing the wrong clubs.
Funny, but I never hear about ANY male pop stars saying, "Dude, I'm staying a virgin until I'm married." Their rep would be destroyed. Ironic how a woman who is a virgin until marriage is respected but a guy who waits is just a p***y.
It seemed from the article that she feels that Spears in particular was of like mind to her about pre-marital sex and that she was essentially broken down by social pressures and particularly business pressures to do something she did not want to do for the sake of her success. I don't think it is out of line to feel sorry for someone who is forced to do something they didn't want to do (even if they are forced by what amounts to their own greed or vanity). Notice she talks about a girl who promised to maintain her virginity; she's not talking about pity for Aguillera or Madonna or others from whom you'd really expect no different. Don't know why some are quick to tear her down for it -- or rather, I know why but don't think it's sensible.
My bad Behad, I honestly had never heard of her but I clicked on the link out of boredom and when they didn't even have a picture of the dame so I was like 'oh no they din't'. Seemed like a stunt to boost album sales. That and all the annoying commercials on TV for that genre of music (like any other compilation CD commercials).... eh it all contributed to this thread. Didn't mean to come off as an *******, but then I'm sure neither did she.
You might have put your finger on a whattyyacallit thingie...double standard...yeah, that's it. This issue of a gender based double standard is a revalation, and needs to be explored more in popular culture.
Just to get with the conversation, if it was reversed and a lesser known hussie who stood for all that is carnal and great knocked publicly on a morally upstanding artist with massive exposure, I'd still knock it. Different ladders shouldn't compete and definitely shouldn't "pity" the one who's making more money and reaching a broader audience. Every artist has their own flavor so it's dumb and childish to compare when something as subjective as morality is involved.
