Texas Tech is 6-2 over their last 8 games vs A&M. 2-2 at Kyle Field. I would venture to say that Tech is a better team than A&M and has proved it repeatedly over the the past 8 years. Texas Tech, Texas and Virginia Tech all have longer current winning streaks than the Aggies do at Kyle field.
Maybe a UT fan isn't the right person to ask, but...... Would you say OSU is a better team than OU? They've won 4 out of the last 7.....sometimes the better team just doesn't win.
It's not hard to see why any non-Aggie in this state has a hard time taking A&M's act seriously. This holier than thou bit and the defense that A&M is tantamount to the US military is just a joke. Yes it was affiliated in its past but now it has an ROTC just like any other university or high school in this country. Do you think there are no veterens who graduated from Texas Tech or UT? T_J's post is a great example of how Aggies don't know how to take a harmless joke. T_J was certainly not trying to belittle General Patton. It's just that when I go to A&M and see t-shirts with his words about A&M on them, or see a poster's sig with the Patton words, it gets old and it makes it seem like the Aggies are trying to assert some sort of superiority over others. A&M had this ribbing from T_J coming to them after they made the very poor decision to print the classless clowns comment in their media guide. A&M is certainly not above ridicule. I guess if you say to yourself and others how classy A&M is over and over and over, eventually you will believe it to be true. Most every body else in this state simply blows the Aggies off to be full of themselves and a silly act. And by the way - I did not attend UT or Texas Tech.
So I guess your still bitter that you lost the game huh? By the way, I talked to Zach Thomas and Sammy Morris and they said best wishes for another loss in Lubbock next year. Guns up!!
Over the previous seven years. Aggies record: 56-28 Raiders record: 49-33 Sure, Tech has definitely had the edge head to head in that time period, but to say they've had more success over the past eight years is probably going a bit too far.
I didn't like the fact that was printed in the media guide either. They worded it improperly. It should have read more like, "the Tech fans who participated in shoving the goal posts into a crowd of Aggie fans are a bunch of classless clowns" or "the tech fans who threw batteries at Aggie football players are a bunch of classless clowns." I think those would have been two honest, truthful comments. But the way they wrote it implied that all Red Raider fans have no class, which is something that obviously isn't true. So, I would have also been offended by the media guide IF I was a Tech fan who didn't participate it the activities or didn't find them amusing. As for the others, who gives a ****? As for your whole "Aggies thinking their superior" comment...it's called school spirit...nothing more...nothing less...Aggies just happen to have a lot of it. I don't neccesarily think that's a bad thing.
Refman, let me remind you how many quotes from Clinton [who was the Commander-in-Chief of the military for 8 years] you take and use in your 'personal jokebox'. Don't even try to play the patriotism card with me. You're just sore because your Ags got beat by a superior team, Texas Technical. Boo-hoo. Just more sour grapes from a frustrated Agroid. CASE CLOSED
What would General Patton do if he saw the Texas Aggies of today? He would definitely have to take back his quote.
Smokey, you can do better than that. There are alot worse pictures out there. As a Longhorn, its our job to embarass the Ags.
I'm not out to embarass. The Aggies on this board are good people. They don't sound like they're hardcore Aggies (Refman justifying the Corps attack on fans violating sacred Kyle Field was odd), and that is a good thing.
Some points I feel that I should make here: 1) Not everyone at A&M thinks the same way. 2) Good Ags, IMO, take a loss with pride, don't act bitter, don't act arrogant, stay after the game and support the team. The so-called 2%ers are really like 10 % after a win and %50 after a loss, cause that's how many people left before and during the end of the game. 3) Tozai, who sucks? A&M basketball? Probably in relation to the rest of the big 12, but the dudes are badass ballers who could school your ass anytime. The chicks are pretty good too, just most of them don't like the coach who is a politician, not a good coach. And I was refering to betting on basketball in general, cause I know a lot about hoops, I'd like to think. PS. did you get the hook up from the DirectTV stuff we talked about way back when? 4) The Corps is not affiliated with the US Military. Your local recruiter will tell you that, but then again, you really shouldn't talk to your local recruiter if you're in search of the truth. General Patton is a legendary and respected hero in my book, but it was a joke and was funny. Times have changed. And in while there are many kick-ass Aggies in the armed forces, the Corps at A&M really kind of sucks overall. I have spoken to many officers in the Marines, and Aggies on their way to becoming officers. Their unanimous opinion of the Corps is that it is too stupid overall, the way things are ran, and the things that go on. The only advantage that I have been told is that it will help you get in shape, even though the USMC is much more physically demanding. 5) I met Sammy Morris my senior year of high school back in 1999 up in Lubbock. Anyhow, after he told me that he played for Tech, I told him that I was at the Tech @ A&M game on a recruiting trip just a month or so before. Then he told me that the Corps guys treated their team real bad, cussing and yelling obscenitities and stuff. He was very nice to me...very involved in his Christian beliefs. Anyhow, one year later, while Tech is beating #5 nationally ranked A&M, I realize that it is Sammy Morris who is having an awesome game, and he was like they're 3rd string running back. It was nice to see him do well.
You know I think it's strange that people will ridicule a school because of its traditions. I never made fun of Texas Tech fans throwing tortillas...I actually thought it was a nice tradition. It didn't hurt anybody. The military is a LARGE part of A&M's history...sorry you feel inclined to belittle the school. Agroid??? I'm sorry...was that meant to be a slam or something? If so try again...it was just lame.
To be honest A&M could lose every football game they play and I would still be proud to be an aggie and go to every game. I think the traditions are a very good thing and unite the student body. It is true that from the outside looking in you cant understand it.! but dont knock us because we have a lot of school spirit!
You're right, as a non-brainwashed Agroid outsider it is hard for me to understand some of the traditions, like the 'yells'. Frankly it would be hard for anyone to understand the nonsense words and jibberish that are in those yells. Let me give you an example: HORSE LAUGH Riffety, riffety, riff-raff! Chiffity, chiffity, chiff-chaff! Riff-raff! Chiff-chaff! Let's give 'em a horse laugh: Sssssss! OLD ARMY Aaaa, Rrrr, Mmmm, Yyyy(Drop voice) Tttt, Aaaa, Mmmm, Cccc(Drop voice) Aaaaaaaa Ol' Army fight! I think the farmer that invented these had been in the sun too long.
You know...before you were being in poor taste...but now you're just being an a**hole. To insult the traditions at a school - ANY school - by calling it nonsense and jibberish is just wrong. Rather than chalk something you don't like as just a nice tradition you choose to mock it...you're pathetic.
