One thing stands out to me in this game, in the roughly 15 pass attempts by Yates only 1 (the play out of the Texans own end zone) was a designed rollout or bootleg. To me that along with the short drop backs is the clearest indication that Kubiak , as he said, was extremely conservative in order to protect Yates. I am confident that we will be pleasantly surprised by how TJ performs and in Kubiak's game plan this Sunday. Leinart was rolling out quite a bit in Jacksonville and if Atlanta, minus their top corner, cannot cover as well as the Jags and Yates looks downfield more than Leinart the Texans could do well this week.
Yates - 5th round pick 12/25 188 yards 86.8 QB Rating Carson Palmer - 1st and 2nd round pick 20/41 271 yards 76.6 QB Rating The Raiders were playing a elite team however in the Miami Dolphins. lulz.
What hat is Yates wearing? Trying to find it online. http://www.nfl.com/videos/houston-texans/09000d5d824bd5d8/Yates-leads-Texans-to-big-win Nevermind. THink I found it. http://shop.houstontexans.com/Houst...lue_Heathered_Flat_Brim_Sideline_Flex_Fit_Hat
The thing I liked most from Yates (and Kubiak) was the response to the near pick six, even more than his brilliant first half. Make no mistake - though the defensive holding penalties were legitimate - that throw was awful. TJ was really struggling at that point with his reads/progressions, and he dumped it to a back that wasn't open (and threw behind him, at that). This was right after the Andre injury, too, so his security blanket had gone away. Despite all of that, Kubiak let him throw on two of the next three plays. On the first one, he found Jacoby open downfield - but the throw was slightly behind and Jacoby didn't pull it in. On the second one (3rd and 4), he hit Walter on an out for 12 yards to keep the drive alive. They called two more passing plays on that drive, too, but Yates pulled it down and scrambled for gains, as opposed to forcing it. It definitely wasn't perfect, but I loved that TJ and Gary went on business as usual and didn't get shell shocked. He's going to make a few mistakes as he adjusts to NFL defensive speed, but the key is for TJ to get better by playoff time - and not shackling him is the way to get there.

schaub doesnt even drop back.. his success is based on bootlegs, play-actions, disguising the naked.. leinart could have doen that and was doing that.. Yates is a different animal.. A QB with confidence who will drop back, stand TALL in the pocket, look down field and stare down the blitz.. i hope he surprises all of the schaub lovers and takes the job from him next year.. im done with schaub..
